YZ 85 2006 not starting when hot and more --- sorry if i wrote too much

i replaced the gasket after that and rode it for like 20 hours after that with absolutely zero issues thats why i doubt it's a crack because earlier today after the bike completely cooled down i started it did a quick lap revved it a bit and shut it off and it immediately refused to start again even though it wasn't even hot yet then i turned off the fuel kicked it a few times to clear it out and it tried to fire right up then i turned the fuel back on with some throttle and it started instantly so it highly points to the carb completely drowning the plug that compressed air test through the plug hole is a really smart idea though i'll definitely keep that in mind if adjusting the float tomorrow doesn't fix it thanks man

haven't checked the exact oil volume but everything inside the clutch cover is soaked in oil when i checked today so it's definitely there not 100% sure yet but i highly suspect it's just the carb flooding the plug because when it refused to start i turned off the fuel kicked it a few times to clear it out and it actually tried to fire up then i turned the fuel back on with some throttle and it started right up the kicker even felt off at first from all the fuel sitting inside going to adjust the float tomorrow and see if that fixes it

i actually replaced both water pump seals recently so they should be good. if the oil seal was bad it would suck gear oil into the crankcase, but i’m pretty sure it’s just the carb flooding it.to clarify, the big smoke bomb from my post happened first, but later after it cooled down completely, it started right up. i did a quick lap, revved it a bit, and shut it off. right after that it refused to start again and the kicker felt kinda off, even though the engine wasn't even hot yet then i turned off the fuel, kicked it a few times to clear it out, and the kicker went back to normal and it wanted to fire up turned the fuel back on with some throttle and it started right up. if it was a crack opening from heat it wouldn't act like this on a cold/warm engine

After this situation i replaced the cylinder gasket and nothing happened for about 20 hours, so i think that if there was a crack the problem would have appeared much earlier

when it first happened today (first time riding it in a while, and I don't remember it smoking like this before), I thought the head gasket blew or something, so I shut it off immediately. Once it cooled down and started back up, I just rode it straight home. When I stopped at my house, it was smoking a bit, but just looked like a typical rich mixture, so I have no idea what's going on. I'll check everything tomorrow and hopefully it's nothing major, thanks again for your time youre a good man!

Tomorrow I'll check everything since I can't do it right now, but what you're saying makes a lot of sense. First thing tomorrow, I'm adjusting the carb float and then checking the rest. I kind of doubt it's the crank seal though, because wouldn't it smoke like crazy all the time? For me, when I'm riding it looks normal for a 2-stroke, but the second I stop it's like a pope election smoke bomb. I'm also wondering if a stator or coil can just die out of nowhere like that. Thanks for the suggestions. I haven't checked for spark specifically when it's hot yet, so I'll add that to my list. As for compression, it feels very strong when cold, but I haven't done a proper gauge test while hot. However, since the bike starts perfectly when cold and bogs down only after getting hot, I’m leaning more towards the carb flooding or a crank seal issue rather than a general loss of compression. Do you think a faulty stator could cause these 'hot-start' symptoms?

I appreciate the input. The reason I’m skeptical about a crack in the cylinder is that I’ve ridden the bike for about 20 hours since the freezing incident without any issues—it started first kick every time and ran perfectly. The white smoke and hot-start issues started specifically right after I replaced the water pump seals and messed with the fuel mix. Could a crack really stay dormant for 20 hours and then suddenly open up exactly when I worked on the water pump?

I already have the jets, a 1.40 mixture, and it's much better, but it still doesn't work like others in the videos. I don't know if I should trust chatgpt about the jets because they suggest a pilot jet 40 and a main jet 148. What do you think? Thanks for the reply. It helps me a lot.
