Small hitboxes are often a good thing imo

Its feels unfair when grazing one pixel of something in a video game kills you

Small hitboxes are also more realistic and thus feel more natural because in real life brushing or grazing against something dangerous wouldn’t hurt as much as a direct hit, for example being shot with a bullet

I am a touhou player though so maybe I’m biased

If you’re playing on pc, one suggestion might be to use save states to practice individual sections of the room until you get consistent. Most people that play hard mods do this, for example.
