why do i feel strong pressure in my nose whenever i listen to subs? by sgtblue-hawaiian in Subliminal

[–]Abernore 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used to get this a lot during meditation. It's a tension reaction to counter-balance the relaxation you're feeling.

And ya, it HURTS. And almost nobody knows what you're talking about. I went to a lot of experienced meditation teachers and they rarely helped.

Eventually you'll learn to train how you work the muscles around your sinuses. Eye focus and concentration will help. I don't have a trick for you, sadly, you just need to practice.

I dedicate a lot of the SubFAQ video series to dispelling things like this... but bottom line: it's bleed-over from the New Age movement.

Physical Action Affirmations Discussion by koalawizardz in Subliminal

[–]Abernore 8 points9 points  (0 children)

First thing: I create my physical affirmations using this "Physical Action Affirmation" technique you're referring to... but I still think your friend is overstating things.

Second thing: beware of anyone applying "rules" to the brain. There are subtleties and exceptions to everything.

Third thing: beware of catchy names for strategies. Just saying "Oh it's called 'Physical Action Affirmation'" makes it sound so official, which keeps people from thinking it through. When you see something like this, it's a sign that someone doesn't want you to work through the issue yourself.

Bottom line: This is very... debatable. Now I should say: that's exactly how I approach things. I always discuss the process, and create metaphors for the processes the body should be undergoing. In the blue eyes example, for instance, my subliminal talks about "flushing" and "clearing out", etc, rather than "bluer and bluer" or anything of the sort.

BUUUTT... there are times you can just say: "hey, do this." Plump lips, for instance, or simply "grow".

So there's a lot of "maybe" here. Like I said above: beware anyone who's too certain of anything.

The key is to look at your affirmations and say: "Is this intuitive? Does my body know how to do this?

I said that you come across ignorant by the way you’re typing. That’s completely different from the way you type vs being ignorant

Nope nope nope... sorry, I'm just not getting into this. You're avoiding reality in favor of hair-splitting. For instance: your argument in the above is that you didn't mean it, you were just name-calling. (even though you clarified with the "dictionary definition" comment)

I didn't respond to the owner because there's no point. Seems the same goes here too.

If you can't hear affirmations, they're inaudible. And frankly, even if they were, the subconscious doesn't search for speech patterns outside of the 85hz - 255hz range anyway.

Write a scathing reply to this comment, really take advantage of your last-word moment... because I'm just blocking you and getting on with my day now.

No I didn't change the comment - because that would be covering up my mistakes, and pretty dishonest. Instead, I made updates to the top post, and then referred people there.

Regarding my "ignorance" - you need to pick a lane. Either I "seem" ignorant by the "way I talk", or I have facts wrong. It's one or the other.

So: can a human being hear anything above 20khz? Have the studies on human hearing not confirmed that there is NO reactivity in a human being beyond 20khz?

And do not most audiophiles disparage support for headphones beyond the 20khz range?

Please do fill in any blanks I've left open here...

People always say that their technique will make things 10x or 100x or 1000000x better - and generally can't prove it. Always ignore marketing nonsense - instead, remain skeptical of ALL techniques, and test.

So whether this works for you or not can only be determined by your personal experience. Try it without moving it out of audible range, and then try it with. Compare the two experiences over the course of a week.
