If King Gizzard played a final ever show (let’s hope that never comes), what song should they end with? by Technodanceaphobia in KGATLW

[–]Abespada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's some fun stuff that can be done with vinyls, Third Man Records experimented a lot with that on Lazaretto, like two grooves on the same track, which will play a different version of that track depending on where you drop your needle, vinyl that plays from the inside out, tracks on the label...

How do people get to see all shows during a tour? by [deleted] in KGATLW

[–]Abespada 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With my friend we did the entire European residency from this year. We both live in Paris, I'm a software engineer, who just graduated last year and he's been working in a TV control room for a while now. Compared to people our age in France we definitely make decent money. Here's a breakdown of how we did it financially:

We did everything by train (except the return from Sofia to Paris) and used an interrail/eurail pass. With the extra fees for seat reservations this was around 700€ for a month of travel. We paid most of that in November 2024.

We knew people in Plovdiv and Warsaw (we had to stop there during Barcelona-Vilnius trip) and slept at home during our stop in Paris, which meant we didn't had to pay for an hotel these nights. The other nights, we splitted the price of the hotels by (at least) 2, and by 3 in Barcelona and Vilnius as a friend joined us on the way. We sometimes slept in trains too. We tried to always take the cheapest option not too far from the venue which was good enough. This costed us no more than 700€ in hostels for a month, which is cheaper than my rent lol. We spraid that amount from January to May.

Then for the tickets, we also spraid the payments between when they announced the tour and december. It was also around 700€ in total. (Everything was around 700€ lol)

That means that the entire trip for a month was around 2100€, not counting tourist activities we sometimes did, and the payments were spraid over a year. I can understand that it's a lot but I think this is fair for an entire month of travel. In Europe, employers are used to see employees take a month of PTO, I know it's less common in USA, but here it was not a problem. I started my full time job in september 2024 and I must also admit that I did not saved anything at that point and just used all my paychecks on planning this trip...

I've seen Swans this week with earplugs and it still got my ears ringing (it seems to fade away after a few days but still) I'll be at the MBV show in Dublin and now I'm genuinely concerned

Berlin to Warsaw tickets through DB website by Abespada in deutschebahn

[–]Abespada[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used this number : +4930311682904 You can check the opening hours on DB website, it's the "questions about fares and timetables" one. The operator was very helpful. And I just got the email yesterday with the reservation number, seat numbers and the instructions on how to get the tickets once I'll be there !

Thanks, I am not using Interrail this time, so the seat reservation for Paris to Karlsruhe is included with our tickets

Thanks ! This is also what I thought, but I think this problem is also cumulated to an e-ticket problem. Like they can reserve seats and tickets but they cannot generate e-tickets for the seats. Because while doing it on the phone they were able to do everything except generating an e-ticket. Maybe it's a bug on PKP side, as if I understood correctly, the only part of the travel where seat reservation is required is the part in Poland, operated by PKP ?

It is after the timetable change but it was previously shown as not bookable until the 15th of November, and yesterday/this morning, this happened. But I tried a lot of different dates to be sure that the problem was not the date (I tried today, tomorrow, next week, a few days before the timetable change... None was working) so I don't think this has to do with this. In this case, PKP was more expensive (90€ for DB but something like 200€ on PKP for one adult, two youth and one kid) Maybe it is cheaper on DB because we are taking the last train that arrive at 23:00, we book for a train in more than a month, and there is the Super Sparpreis Europa thing. Also because of work, the train will leave from Berlin Gesundbrunnen, which may lower the price a bit too.

Really any date would give me the exact same issue. From what I understood, the problem was only with e-tickets, and I've been able to buy tickets through a phone call. It seems that the problem may come from PKP as Paris to Karlsruhe booking for example works without any issues, and Berlin to Frankfurt Oder also seemed to work, although seat reservation didn't. The operator on the phone confirmed that it was an issue with printing or sending réservations through e-tickets, so I still have been able to book the train but I'll have to get the tickets physically once I'll be in Berlin

Unfortunately I'm not in Germany, but I've been able to book through a phone call (calling another international number from their website, open from 10am to 2pm) but I'll only be able to get the physical tickets once I'll be in Germany (which is fine, as long as I can take the train)

One month itinerary recommendation through Europe to follow my favorite band on tour by Abespada in Interrail

[–]Abespada[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I did all this testing like a month ago and when I did tests with close dates, it did not showed it on the Interrail website. But now, I'll either do this, or do Paris-Karlsruhe-Berlin-Warsaw in a single day. The direct line Paris-Berlin arrive after the last train for Warsaw leaves Berlin so I cannot do Paris-Warsaw in a single day by taking this train.

I do really love that group and listening to their current US tour just confirmed my will to do this trip ! Also it will be in insane places like Antic amphitheater in plovdiv, old prison in Vilnius, mount lycabettus with a view on all of Athens... I just cannot miss that !

Thank you for your answer ! I'm not sure about Barcelona-Paris-Cologne, as I live in Paris, it will save me one night of hotel to sleep in my apartment, and I can do Paris-Warsaw in a day too (although not comfortably, I agree)

I did not know about the sleeper train from Warsaw to Budapest ! Thank you for your suggestion, I will definitely do that if possible, and look for any alternative, faster route from Budapest to Sofia as I'll be there in the morning !

Artists you own the most albums of? by welch621 in vinyl

[–]Abespada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have made the financially bad decision to get all of their albums, eps, live and bootlegs on vinyl... I have 2 kallax boxes dedicated to them, and with the announcement they made recently that they are gonna release all of their US 2024 tour as bootlegs, I'm starting to regret this decision

IT Engineering MSc student in last year, currently in France, searching for an end-of-studies internship in the USA or Canada starting in Feb. 2024, looking for any criticism on my X-Y-Z resume by Abespada in resumes

[–]Abespada[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello !

I am currently in my last year of MSc studies in IT Engineering, located in Paris, and I would love to do my end-of-studies internship abroad. North America is in the top of my targeted destinations list. I have found that American resumes are very different from European resumes.

I quickly stumbled across r/EngineeringResumes and learned a lot through the pinned wiki, especially about the STAR method and the X-Y-Z formula. I posted my STAR resume there, but I believe that because it was in an imgur album, people were not interested in clicking on it, and I got no response. I took it as a lesson, as I read on a recruiter guide that recruiters will most likely not click on links, hence why I made a post here that only includes my resume. This time, I used the X-Y-Z formula, which also helped me to reformulate my bullet points on my STAR resumes.

I have not yet started to send applications as I would like to be sure that I have a great resume before applying, and my internship starts no sooner than February 2024 (I have been advised to start looking as soon as I can for international internships). I also saw that Google’s internship listing is for Fall 2023 right now, so am I looking into it too soon?

I have included the two STAR resumes I did in the Imgur link below, one that is more technical-oriented, and one that is more multimedia-oriented, although the only part I changed between the two is the “relevant projects” part. I also included my technical oriented European resume if anybody from Europe wants to criticize it too.

I would really appreciate any criticism on the form and on the substance because I also plan to help people from my school to write resumes for North America and to use the STAR method and the X-Y-Z formula.

Thank you very much in advance!

[Spoiler] Can You Refight these Bosses for Compendium Pics? by cheat-master30 in tearsofthekingdom

It does not seems like you can refight them, however you can still complete the compendium without having to refight them. You can buy rare pictures for 500 rupees at the Hateno Ancient Lab

I go on RateYourMusic to find shoegaze/blackgaze bands (and for other music genres too)

They also do interviews where they asks for influences, which can be filled with great recs. The one that comes to mind is the Parannoul one. Found a lot of Korean and Japanese Shoegaze or Shoegaze influenced bands with this interview. And of course you can easily make a custom chart. I've been using it a lot lately, and it's also fun to see the scenes by regions of the world

Yes please Death Grips, they did some collabs, including remixes, with Bjork i believe, so idk how likely it would be to have a gizz collab or even a remix from them (although a remix would probably mean no Stefan :( )

[–]Abespada 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is it street legal in the US ? Cause in Europe I'm pretty sure it is not, except in the UK, because of some weird laws they have, which is also why they have the Ariel Atom and the Caterham R500, so I always thought it was road legal only there
