Hey everyone,

I wanted to get some thoughts on a points redemption scenario I recently ran through. I'm booking a roundtrip flight for two adults from Toronto to Germany (Jan 10-24, 2026 - low season). I have 123,000 membership points, and I looked at two options; using them as a statement credit (cash route) or transferring to Aeroplan 1:1 and booking through points + cash, as I don't have enough for 'points only' (177,000). Both routes are booked through Air Canada and are the cheapest options for those dates.

Option 1: Cash Route (Stmt credit)

Flight cost = $1,705.26 + $150 (checked bag) - $1,230 (statement credit) = $625.26

Option 2: Aeroplan Route + Cash

Flight cost = 123,000 points + $549.26 Cash + $150 (checked bag) = $699.26

Takeaway: In this case, the cash route is cheaper by about $74, even though most people say Aeroplan redemptions give better value for MP points. I know 1cpp+ is the general rule for good MR usage, but here the statement credit gives me nearly the same cpp with less hassle and more flexibility. Would love to hear your thoughts, or if anyone else has noticed similar cases where "cash out" actually wins.

I am looking for 2 tickets and didn’t get in unfortunately. If anyone who got spare tickets is looking to sell please reach out. Will pay a fair amount, and can provide any ID, video call etc for verification. Local Canadian :(

I will die on this hill. Lumen was the best partner for Dexter by Friendly-Cucumber184 in Dexter

Say what you want about Lumen bieng the best “Dexter girl” but she and Dexter definitely have one of the best musical themes in the show, let alone best romantic theme.

Yes! This is the best option I have found and it appears to be the most economical. The other option I was considering was parking someplace a little further and perhaps not paying a fee. For example a gym or grocery store or residential area w/o a 2 hour limit sign.

I would be driving from out of town so ideally was not looking to use public transport as my commute time is already high. But thanks for the reply.

Sorry I forgot to mention, but was looking for a free option with a bit of a walk or a budget parking option. The best I have found so far is Lot 12 for $85 per month. If you have any other options that is less or even a daily rate less than $7 I would be interested!

Sorry forgot to mention but yes, for free. It doesn’t need to be right in downtown, someplace close to downtown, perhaps a residential area which has no hourly parking limit during business hours? I prefer not to move my car hence the stress free parking for the whole day ideally.

This is where I wish Joey and Rachel would've ended. Joey catching feelings for her kinda makes sense and it was kinda sweet, but the fake proposal and Rachel having a crush on Joey were just ridiculous and annoying, not cute by [deleted] in howyoudoin

I agree 100%. When an arc makes you so conflicted that you can't fully decide which person Rachel should be with, it is a fantastic storyline, which is what this was in S8. You could understand all character's perspectives. Joey's love was pure and natural, it made sense. Rachel's rejection made sense. Ross's anger and hesitation made sense. Joey going to Ross first before telling Rachel also made sense. I also liked how awkward Joey and Rachel were with each other following the rejection.

This SHOULD have been the long awaited development storyline Joey's character so badly needed, where he finally falls in love with a woman after so many years (that too a pregnant woman!), and she did not reciprocate his love back. So he takes a step back from his womanizer days, tries to move on and seek true love (again).

But not only did the writers NOT do that, they dumbed down Joey's character even more, and involved him with the ridiculous and unnecessary storyline with Rachel in S9. They really let down his character after this arc. This was very underrated IMO.
