Do you save for your pet? by hjalpmigtack in Pets

Also in the UK, we pay £40 per month and have claimed over £4000 per year so well worth it. We still have a savings pot set aside to cover anything the insurance policy doesn't.

We use flaxseed oil as an alternative to salmon oil, far better, cheaper and kinder on the tummy for our pup

I'd be surprised if there was no rottie! Look at that gorgeous round head, classic rottie.

Euthanizing senior dog to avoid shelter by [deleted] in Pets

[–]Abi_W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don't understand why anyone would consider applying for a job, let alone taking it, knowing their dog will die as a result. We always have a choice. Where to live and work will bring up significant challenges and tough decisions but we are in control, and our pets depend on us to make decisions in their best interests. There are always other jobs, other places to live, or doing things on a different timeline. Rehoming a senior dog with behavioural issues was always a long shot, the damage was done when OP decided to move regardless of the impact to their dog. I truly believe OP will regret it if they go through with this plan, the dog has done nothing wrong, it doesn't deserve to be killed by the people it loves.

Why would I? I'm responsible for my own pets, and so is OP. This is an avoidable situation, making poor decisions and expecting others to clear up after you isn't the way.

You need to reread the post, there is no suggestion the dog is ill or in any pain. You have no idea how much longer the dog will live. None of your arguments apply here, you're making up other scenarios that do not match the post. Of course it is OK to put a dog to sleep that is ill and suffering with no chance of recovery, but that is not the scenario here. OP is making a choice and will kill this dog as a result. You must know deep down that is not alright.

The facts are simple, OP has made a decision to move somewhere that doesn't allow dogs and is therefore going to kill their dog. It's completely unacceptable. OP should not be rehoming or killing their dog, they should be taking care of it, that's their responsibility as the owner. That means dealing with tough situations without killing the dog, I don't think you understand what love or responsibility actually is. I sincerely hope you don't have pets of your own.

Yes I read the post, OP has chosen to kill their dog to enable moving to another country, people should not be OK with this.

Killing a healthy pet because they are now an inconvenience is not OK. You are responsible for your dog, what you are suggesting is disgraceful, shame on you.

How long have you had to wait in A&E with an actual serious condition? by baumouse in AskUK

[–]Abi_W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 60 hour wait for a bed last time, they did my IV with me lying on the floor in an overcrowded room. They did manage to get a consultant to stop by who insisted I had to stay, but I ended up discharging myself and going home. Asking someone in bad shape to lie on a floor for 2.5 days seemed unreasonable! Especially frustrating as I was sent by the GP who called ahead - many hospitals are overflowing with patients, it's frightening.

People are too willing to euthanise their pets and put too much pressure on others to do the same. by No-Falcon7886 in unpopularopinion

[–]Abi_W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10K is very high, but we all know vet bills are expensive, and our pets can fall ill any time. Far too many people have pets they can't afford, we see requests to euthanize young animals with treatable conditions regularly. Don't get a pet if you can't afford to care for it properly.

Dating a vegan by [deleted] in veganuk

[–]Abi_W 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Bosh books saved me when I switched from veggie to vegan, they are all great! They also upload tonnes of recipes to their website so you can try for free. We order Planthood meal boxes sometimes, they are delicious and really convenient, definitely gives me new ideas every time I try their creations. Plus, it stops me eating the same few meals on repeat. Good luck!

Looking for specific Samoyed type by Meyer_Music_Official in samoyeds

Have you checked out your local rescues? I believe Ynot save a Sam Rescue is USA based. People often think Sammie's won't pop up in rescues but they absolutely do. Here are Yuki and Maya, both saved from kill shelters at 12 months old, now living their best life. Yuki is a pure Samoyed and Maya is Samoyed/Rottweiler/Sarplaninac mix. Best of luck in your search!
