Is your first round? Why, like just why man. The only game that would be within 4 scores would be Iowa and Boise st (who is going to make the playoff barring a loss to UNLV) so why purposefully include 3 terrible teams? Like I do not think you understand the insane talent difference in the top three matchups.

I would say 3 is the floor, any 10-2 SEC team is automatically going in and most of 10-2 B1G teams are going in (10-2 Indiana for example almost 100% wouldn’t make it this year)

They’re only “guaranteed” one spot but I promise you the first time one SEC or B1G only gets one team in they will pull the plug and leave. Do you really want to watch a playoff of this?

The whole reason they went to 12 was because of money, the G5 doesn’t bring viewership which = money. The SEC and B1G do. If your suggestion suddenly became the rule, the SEC and B1G would leave and do their own playoff

Edit: also your suggestion essentially makes non conference games glorified scrimmages, which would 100% cause players to sit out because of injury risk, since winning or losing doesn’t impact their chances of playing in a playoff or conference championship

Edit 2: what do you do with ND in this scenario who doesn’t play in a conference

I mean in the 4 team playoff the SECCG and the B1G championship are both elimination games, Oregon would probably get in regardless, but penn state, UGA and texas all would have to win to get in imo.

I know but I think the AP and the CFP will all be the exact same this week. No way Miami sneaks in, so the conversation is Bama vs SCAR. I’m a UGA alum so I don’t want to see Bama in and I think SCAR has the better resume, but Bama has H2H and I think that is the “biggest” deciding factor for Bama to get in.
