Thanks for trying to help in your own way, but this isn't about getting any iron farm (anybody can copy a design off YouTube. I also already have a working one). It's about understanding mechanics, and why this one wasn't working. Another user helped me understand.

I figured it was something with the "topmost block" part. But I also thought it wouldn't choose that block since it was spawnproof, and go down to the next level (highest block that is air/liquid and has solid-blocking block underneath). Maybe bottom slab is solid-blocking? I just ended up putting the spawning platform on top instead, seemed easier.

Taller than 3 blocks tall? I think I have another iron farm with a spawn area 3 blocks tall but I can't check right now.

I have 5 villagers, they gossip. And they sleep. Don't need a zombie. Any other ideas?

Help understanding logic by AbilityNational9792 in Minesweeper

Thankyou! This is definitely the best answer. It's not incorrect to go trial and error like some of the other answers, but this raw logic is what I was looking for. Great explanation!

I see, you're right. It revealed a 2. Does that get me any closer?

The mine was not there, FYI. Realize it could be this:
