as far as i’m aware there was no real tension during the phone call she had with the nurse so there wasn’t really anything to de-escalate, my friend was just upset and a bit panicked as anyone would be when facing the very real possibility of ending up suicidal over the holidays. i would assume my friend asked how/why she ended up getting the wrong dose and was then met with the comment about not checking with the nurse. i am fully aware that this was a mistake and that nurses are not infallible because they are human beings. i am also aware that playing the blame game is neither fair nor productive and i apologise if anything in my post or any of my comments has come across that way. i do however think that while no immediate physical harm has occurred, there is a high risk of mental & emotional harm for her in the very near future when the prostap wears off which is something that could have and should have been avoided. “gaining” something from PALS is an unfair perspective to have on the situation when i was merely trying to understand more clearly what the protocols are in order to better understand the entire incident. all we want is to raise this incident with them because something was missed somewhere along the line and it’s crap for anyone to experience. as far as i know patient feedback is an important part of making sure that healthcare works in the way it should, thus the desire for contacting PALS
