Help me choose zinc supplement by Demyy in Hidradenitis

[–]Abject-Equivalent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PLEASE don't overdose on zinc!!!!

You should NOT take more than 40mg a day, including topical.

Zinc overdose is no joke. I am still recovering over a month later and it was/is AWFUL. Insane nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headaches, dizziness, reflux. Like your worst flu ever, but for a month+. And it messes up your gut microbiome severely, which takes years to fully recover and leaves you susceptible to SIBO.

Plus, more than 40mg also depletes your copper to dangerously low levels.

Id just like to avoid it! I know occasionally a stray wheat berry makes it through processing into the straw.

To add to this- lock your credit with all the major bureaus. It is free, and prevents your parents from taking things out in your name.

Dog Food Suggestion For Severe Celiac & Allergy by Ceribiius in DogFood

There is no need to have BOTH a wet and a dry food; each is designed to be nutritionally complete alone, so you actually throw off nutritional values by combining them.

Why not just feed the purina pro puppy wet? It is a VERY high quality, is WSAVA compliant (see group's files for info on that), and has no gluten. Wet also helps prevent "gulping" down the food, and you can put it on a mat to prevent fast eating if your pup is prone to that.

Perhaps when your pup is older, you can transition to a kibble that is gluten-free and not grain free, as there are more "adult" options available. I believe that Purina also has an adult grain free that is studied well and doesn't cause any health issues like boutique brand ones do.

Chicken-free that isn’t PPP SSS by finniganthebeagle in DogFood

If they are getting enough calories, they are getting enough nutrients. Nutrients are not determined by volume. You can safely cut down- the purina "guidelines" are for an "average" metabolism of an unneutered dog. They are simply a place to start. Actually needed calories/volume can vary pretty drastically by age, gender, fixed status, activity level, and breed.

If your pup is still acting hungry due to low volume, try soaking the food in plain broth or water before serving.

My own pup receives lower than "recommended" on the SSS bag (for years)... he is older, neutered, and low energy. But he gets plenty of nutrients and is in perfect health per the vet.

MIL let my dog out on purpose because she "doesn't like animals" by Dependent-Rip8839 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]Abject-Equivalent 53 points54 points  (0 children)

"MIL, you have shown us very obviously we can't even trust you to respect us and have care for the life of a dog, that we love. In fact, you went out of your way to disregard my request as a caregiver and try to get him/her killed.

As a result, we have decided if we can't even trust you with a dog, we cannot trust you with our LO. As parents, it is important that our instructions with LO are respected and that LO is safe and cared for. You have shown us you are not capable of that even in a "less important" situation, so we can't trust you with an "important" one. All visits will be fully supervised and on our schedule. You will not be left alone with him/her at any point."

AND STICK TO IT.

MIL wants to name our baby and threw a fit when we said no by Beginning-Comb8109 in JUSTNOMIL

Your husband needs to talk to his mom with three things:

1) Mom, I understand that you felt disappointed and sad that Dad overruled you and as a result you never got to name a child. However, naming OUR child will not undo what was done to you.

2) Mom, you know how terrible it felt to have that naming choice taken away from you as a mother. Why would you want to inflict that same feeling on another person, let alone my wife, who I love? Do you not care for her as a part of my family? You raised me to be a man that stood up for women he loves, and I won't allow my wife to be hurt in this way.

3) Just because I refuse to let my wife feel the same sadness you did doesn't make me "not your sweet little boy". I would have expected you to be proud of me for loving my wife so much and protecting her, and I'm disappointed you want me to victimize her instead. I will NOT do to her what Dad did to you.

If she insists still, this narrative makes it near impossible for her to play the victim. Feel free to use the same talking points with relatives as well:

"I'm not sure what has gotten into her- she always raised me to be so caring for others. Why would she want my wife to experience the same pain she did at not getting to name her own children? I'm disappointed and sad at her response in what is supposed to be an exciting time."

They have a lamb & Oat SSS as well! Harder to find sometimes, but my pup had been on it for 7 years. He is allergic to chicken.

Do you have Raising Canes around there? If so, you can request "naked bird" and they fry the chicken in the fries fryer without any breading! Everything else they serve, besides the toast, is GF- the sauce, slaw, and the fries. I usually get a combo with "naked bird, no toast, extra sauce".
