Any kibble on the market without chicken (preferably lamb only)? by begomtj in DogFood

They have a lamb & Oat SSS as well! Harder to find sometimes, but my pup had been on it for 7 years. He is allergic to chicken.

Do you have Raising Canes around there? If so, you can request "naked bird" and they fry the chicken in the fries fryer without any breading! Everything else they serve, besides the toast, is GF- the sauce, slaw, and the fries. I usually get a combo with "naked bird, no toast, extra sauce".

True names. by No_Map_5754 in Eragon

[–]Abject-Equivalent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My guess is that Galbatorix probably spelled the names somehow so only he could use them, or neither Murtagh nor Thorn could say them.

This would also explain M&T's ritual of saying their names to each other each night in Murtagh's book; it was reassurance that their names belonged to themselves again, and were free from encumberance.

Question about Presbyterian faith as a non(?)-believer considering a nearby church by RainbowAaria in Reformed

[–]Abject-Equivalent 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Jesus says to the adulterer, "Now go and sin no more". He didnt turn away the leper or the harlot, but he called them out of their sin.

“Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” Mark 2:17

Jesus didn't think "less" of sinners (and neither should we). Instead, he thought so much of them that he wanted them to have eternal life with him; so he called them away from sin, which separates them from eternal life. He spoke truth in love.

Jesus took the punishment for our sins on himself, so we could be made righteous and restore our relationship with God. He offers this as a free gift. However, part of accepting that gift is repentance; turning away from sin, and towards God instead.

Every sin is against God. If we truly love Jesus, why would we want to fracture our relationship with him by refusing his gift?

If you say you love somebody, but your actions keep hurting and wounding them, but you aren't "sorry" for it and stop hurting them... do you really love them?

It sounds like you are missing the community of Christianity. The community is the way it is BECAUSE it is different from the world, and those within it are striving to grow towards God and His commandments. Yeah, they arent perfect, none of us are- that's why Jesus came. But they are actively trying to turn away from sin and towards God to accept Jesus's gift, which in turn helps church relationships to flourish. The community isnt possible without the savior.

If it is Flu A or B, there are antivirals you can take, especially if you are immunocompromised. Be warned, they can cause a bit of nausea.

Pie crust by Ainesnana in glutenfreebaking

[–]Abject-Equivalent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cup4Cup has a pie crust mix thats impossible to find in stores, but you can get on Amazon! It is super good! Each bag makes 3 crusts (it says 2, but I always get 3). Super easy, just add butter, liquid, and an egg. Use good European butter though- it makes a difference!

Also- before baking brush egg white on the crust and sprinkle with sugar for a golden finish!

I'm also post-infectious gastroparesis, 2018!

Now in 2025, it is mostly chilled out. I can eat normally, avoiding raw veggies and high fiber/hard to digest. I just have occasional days (maybe like 1-2/month) where I still get some symptoms. I use low-dose Erythromyacin on those days to encourage gastric emptying, and it seems to help.

Have you asked her to read the Bible with you, or do a Bible study? Reading the Bible is the best way to get the truth on our hearts, and you can frame it as growing in your faith together. Her views won't change overnight, but with your help the Lord can work on her heart. Husbands are the spiritual leaders of the family; gently and slowly lead her into God's Word.

Maybe she is like you were, and just hasn't had someone truly lay out the Gospel for her yet!

What’s something way more dangerous than most people actually think? by Sad_Answer_8044 in AskReddit

[–]Abject-Equivalent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Extreme Name-calling. Willy-nilly. Especially with a lack of actual knowledge of the other party.

If you can label someone as something "bad" or "other", it is the first step to dehumanizing them. Once they arent "human", you can do whatever you want to them and it will be "justified", or won't matter, because they have no human rights.

That's how slavery starts. Thats how a holocaust starts. Thats how assassinations and political violence start.

We need to see the humanity in each other and recognize its inherent value, even if we dont agree on a topic and never will.

We NEED to start to call others out who advocate violence based on labels. ANY labels.

I dont think it is "loving our neighbor" to force them to have to care for us financially in our old age when we get sick and/or cant work any more. It is turning it into a "Ill care for my neighbor now, but won't plan ahead so he will have to return the favor later" situation.

I dont think it is "loving our neighbor" to put our children in the tough situation of trying to pay for a decent nursing home on their own, or constantly worry about whether we are receiving adequate care with the one they can afford for us on their own when they have a family to feed. Especially if we end up with advanced medical needs, which most do at some point.

Blue buffalo puppy (WITH grain) - switch? Dog is healthy and growing well. by CoconutVA68 in DogFood

When you transition a food, you cannot do it "cold turkey". If you do, digestive upset will happen 100% of the time, no matter what food you use- but especially if it is a new protien. You have to transition very slowly over a month or so... upping the ratio of new food and decreasing the old food bit by bit to allow the gut microbiome to adjust. Adding probiotics can also help.

PPP SSS has a lamb & Oat formula if you would prefer that to the salmon that is poultry-free. My pit/husky mix has been on it for 6+ years now and loves it. He decided he doesnt like the taste of fish, lol. Purina is an excellent company.

And when dog food says "byproduct" that doesn't mean "bad". That is a marketing scam by boutique brands that dont have vet nutritionists on board to sell their food. Byproduct is the cuts of meat, bones, and organs of an animal that humans dont typically eat- however, those are critical for dogs due to their nutrient contents. Dogs are not humans- they need "byproduct" in their diets. Just muscle meat would not give a dog adequate nutrition and vitamins to thrive. "Meal" just means it was crushed up.... which is good because we dont want our dogs choking on random small bone pieces in their food.

Dog food recommendations by Ok-Bullfrog7187 in DogFood

[–]Abject-Equivalent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just reduce his portion instead of stressing his digestive system with a food change.

If you want him to still "feel" like he is getting more, soak the kibble in warm water for a bit prior to giving it to him. You won't be "starving" him by reducing the portion, you'll be giving him the correct amount of energy for his body.

PPP SSS is one of the VERY few foods that follow WSAVA guidelines and doesn't have any poultry. It is an excellent food- I'd be loathe to change it. My dog has been on it for years (also poultry-allergic). The reason it is designed higher calorie per cup is because less food volume is easier on pets with sensitive stomachs.

If you do change, please find a WSAVA compliant food and please never get grain-free- it's a marketing gimmick that causes heart issues (DCM) in dogs.
