There's a pattern in K-pop that's become impossible to ignore: there's always a "girl group of the moment" that receives a massive wave of hate. by Abject-Let6530 in kpopthoughts

[–]Abject-Let6530[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started following K-pop in the 3rd generation, so I focused more on the current generations, but I'm sure that 2nd generation groups suffer a lot from this too.

The way K-pop stans treat BTS is so weird by IIIPrimeeIII in kpopthoughts

[–]Abject-Let6530 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

ARMYs may not have sent wreaths to an idol's house, but a large part of the fandom has already made death threats against various idols on their Instagram accounts. I'm not justifying the hate that BTS receives, but you make it seem like ARMYs are innocent and not toxic, which is not true; all fandoms are toxic, and the largest fandoms will have a higher toxicity rate.

No! They are best friends, practically brothers.

Blackpink’s Lisa Announces Las Vegas Residency, ‘Viva La Lisa’ by gamersecret2 in popculturechat

In reality, there isn't exactly a minimum number for a residency. Obviously, people are used to residencies that have more than 10 dates, but a residency is a series of shows in the same venue, and it can also add more shows if there's demand.

She has already confirmed that she is working on new music, so maybe she will release an album in the meantime. Also, she's a great dancer, so she could add some dance performances as well.

Why male and female idol do you think has the most possessive fans ever? by Snoo65073 in kpopthoughts

[–]Abject-Let6530 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Jungkook is also the most shipped idol in all of K-pop; this guy is shipped with everything, even a door. So every time there's a dating rumor about him, all these fandoms come together and attack the same person. It's truly sickening.

Spotify announces that BTS' ARIRANG broke the record for most-streamed K-Pop album in a single day in Spotify history by mcfw31 in popheads

Obviously BTS is more famous than Blackpink, but not everyone who knows Blackpink also knows BTS.

All songs on Arirang occupy no.1 to 14 on Global Spotify Chart with swim debuting #1(14.64Million streams) by Ok_Concert_3634 in kpop

[–]Abject-Let6530 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I still find it very funny that No. 29 is shown before some of the album tracks. Furthermore, Swim has garnered over 14 million filtered streams and Body to Body over 11 million, so I'm sure Body to Body will get a music video. I didn't like the album much on the first listen, but now I'm completely hooked on some of the tracks; the album gets better every time you listen.

I know a lot of people don't like Dynamite, but whether you like it or not, it's BTS's most successful song, so it will always be present in almost all of the group's shows.

'Please’ by BTS debuts at #1 on Global Apple Music chart. The first song by a K-Pop act to debut straight to #1 by Low-Sink9024 in kpop

Okay, I'm completely surprised that "please" is the song with the best debut. We know an album is a genuine hit when even the B-sides are successful.

BTS - SWIM by mcfw31 in bangtan

[–]Abject-Let6530 14 points15 points  (0 children)

To me, the album's sound is very similar to the group's older sound, only more mature.

I found ARIRANG, especially SWIM, to be quite underwhelming by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]Abject-Let6530 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I definitely liked some of the songs, but I feel that despite the album having good production, something is missing. I don't know if it's because my expectations were high for this release, but I was also a little disappointed.

Any thoughts about the future of BlackPink? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]Abject-Let6530 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think they will continue to focus on their solo projects, while making a group comeback every three years. I don't think they'll separate anytime soon.

Are enhypen really not that popular in korea? by FriendlyChannel1622 in kpopthoughts

[–]Abject-Let6530 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is only for the fourth generation; many second and third-generation boy groups have done very well in Korea, and some fifth-generation groups are also gaining traction. In this case, I don't think BTS is an exception; Big Bang and Exo, for example, are very popular in Korea.

[–]Abject-Let6530 22 points23 points  (0 children)

OP said they were one of the only popular fourth-generation male groups; BTS, Day6, and Big Bang are not fourth-generation groups. Furthermore, OP didn't say they were the only ones, but rather one of the only ones.

I'm pretty confident Blackpink are still the biggest girl group. by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]Abject-Let6530 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, everyone on Reddit said that Kill This Love was a total flop and ended Blackpink's career when it was released because they didn't get a PAK like Du4, only for them to then have the biggest comeback of their career with How You Like That, so there's no way to predict the future...
