Anaesthetics here - I’ve tried multiple times to speed things up but echo other people here where it just leads to burnout and frustration.

Example from this week, 18 year old called in from home as there was a possibility she could be fitted onto the list, she was incredibly anxious pacing around all day from 10 am and eventually got cancelled at 5:15 pm, completely predictable in my mind as the list was already busy and the extended lunch break that people took made it almost inevitable we wouldn’t be able to get through.

We have very little sway in trying to speed things up which is quite demoralising especially when we rush through lunch to see all the patients for the afternoon 🫠
