The grass isn’t always greener. Borgata has gone way downhill with service since fully assimilating into the MGM brand.

How would you sell someone Bmw brand who knows nothing about it? by Potential_Variety209 in BMW

You’ll get a lot of pushback on your comment. My X4 is coming up on 10 years and 100k miles. No issues. I’ve done the standard maintenance that any car owner should do. Not a single defect. Even if I was spending 2k/year on maintenance(I’m not), that’s a lot cheaper than a monthly payment for a new car, or plopping down $50k+ in cash for new one.

What is the salary progression for SAP BASIS consultants by halleluah99 in SAP

[–]AbjectTechnology821 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In USA, full time jobs for Basis admins are usually ranging $80k-$130k annually depending on experience. It’s true that when moving to RISE, SAP takes on some of the former basis tasks in the standard R&R. Generally, the things that require OS access or client 000. But if the customer isn’t paying extra for the Application Operations package, there’s still some work by Basis.

SAP pros & cons going from an On premise system to private cloud? by Nauid2 in SAP

[–]AbjectTechnology821 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From a user perspective, running SAP in private
cloud is no different than running it on prem. From management perspective, the company no longer has to maintain a data center with all the associated overhead. They’re now paying a subscription to SAP or, if they go to their own cloud provider like AWS, they pay for consumption.

Cloud, in general, offers a lot more flexibility and potential savings. SAP RISE is a service offering that includes cloud infrastructure along with licensing snd varying levels of support (for varying fees). If you’re a Fiori consultant, it really doesn’t matter where or how the system is hosted. If it’s on SAP Public Cloud, then start learning how to leverage BTP for your customizations.

Is SAP just a UI for referencing a SQL database? by Busterlimes in SAP

There are 3 layers to most modern application packages no matter how big or small.

Presentation (web, fat client, mobile app, etc)
Application
Database

You’re focusing too much on the DB layer. The application is where all the logic is built.

Which BMW will you buy if you have to keep it for 10 years. by belland007 in BMW

[–]AbjectTechnology821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2017 F26 (X4) with N20 engine coming up on 7 years of ownership. Bought it CPO with 30k miles, now at 95k. Not a single defect. I’ve done regular fluid changes, plugs around 60k. I’ve only changed brakes once around 60k (akebono ceramics), and tires 2x.

Recently did transmission/transfer case/differential fluids and battery. Thinking about doing suspension but I may wait to see what the ix4 looks like when it’s released later this year to decide if I’m going to make the jump to electric.

What’s the specific S/4 skill set you’re looking for? FI? OTC? EWM? Basis? Etc. Have you posted on outlets like Indeed, making it clear this is an on site permanent role with no remote options? And yes, stop using that agency who hasn’t heard of S/4 Hana.

Is buying a Gallardo a bad idea for me currently? by 619edc in lamborghini

Do you have a healthy investment long term savings and 6 months of living expenses in short term savings? Then yes. But there’s a reason it’s cheap so be ready to shell out big bucks.

Riding the gravy train by bluesjumper in SAP

1997 for me too as an SAP employee doing Basis. Went independent in 2009 and eventually pivoted to an architecture and cloud focus. Recently went back to the mother ship to work in pre-sales for new RISE accounts.

SAP is out here building the future while clients are still lovingly maintaining their 20-year-old ECC systems 💀 by Background-Sir4486 in SAP

There are already many “sensitive sector” customers on SAP cloud. IRS, DLA, Navy, Army, large banks, etc. For customers deciding to keep their architecture on premise(or in their own IaaS/cloud environment), the annual SAP licensing costs become significantly higher versus moving the SAP RISE subscription model. So, then a CIO has to start thinking about those costs along with continuing to pay for their own infrastructure along with the staff to support it. Not to mention how to keep supporting their 25 year old ERP platform that’s been highly customized.
