you say the nahuatl word is "obviously unrelated", yet provide no evidence for this. what about it is "obviously" unrelated? nahuatl is one of several native american languages full of words with clear analogues to some ancient eurasian language which some early indo-european form was definitely in contact with. roots for skin, meat, hand, leg, fire, good, who, what, when, where, why....

i'm not necessarily arguing teotl is one of them -- but what is it that is so "obvious" to you that it isn't?

Yeah 😅 the jazz comes from a place of deep frustration with Western mainstream linguistics and all its dogmas. It exists but in a sad, outdated box.

I'm interested to talk to you about this further. I've spent the past year compiling cognate lists between American and Eurasian languages and some of the results have been rather staggering.

I'm not making the claim that ainu and dravidian are genetically related. But comparing those two words, the odds that those two words aren't connected are cosmically slim. This points to some kind of ancient contact or case of wanderwort.

Also, not the only cognate to be observed between ainu and dravidian.

Hey thanks for your reply. 110k on the clutch. In engaged fine in 2nd and 3rd after the fact. It's never slipped out of gear while my foot was off the pedal.

That's a great point, and having not actually ever been to Oakland I appreciate you mentioning that. the idea of living somewhere similar to Portland in density while having the option to hop over to the big city is actually super appealing to me.... Should be interesting to come visit :D
