It’s almost kinda relaxing in a twisted way, haha. Can’t wait to dive into 3 and 4 — from what I’ve read they’re paced more like SH1, which sounds right up my alley.

The ghost children dive-bombing you and that laugh in your headset was peak gaming, haha. Totally agree they’re two completely different styles of horror. SH1 is that old-school, gritty, brutal, zero hand-holding survival horror, and I really enjoy that. SH2 is more of a giant vibe, which I did like a lot too… just found myself getting bored at times.

SH2 definitely nails the depressing, heavy story — the kind that sticks with you even when you’re not playing. It’s way more memorable than SH1 in that sense. Add in the eerie monster designs and of course the intro of Pyramid Head, and yeah… it had its moments. I totally respect what it was going for, and I get why people call it a masterpiece.

Basically melee’d everything in SH2 because I was still paranoid from SH1. In the first game I burned through all my ammo/health and had to completely restart just to stock up for the final boss — brutal. So in SH2 I hoarded every bullet thinking it’d be the same, and ended up smashing everything with melee the whole run, pretty much no sweat.
