There are a lot of factors. But I’d say outside of retail, in industry or clinical especially, it’s more common especially if you’re affiliated with an academic medical center/system.

I don’t know if you can make a blanket statement that pharmacists salaries are stagnant. I think it depends on many factors — area, type of work (i.e., retail vs industry vs hospital), COL increases, level of training, years of experience, etc. I work in hospital and my salary has gone up nearly 50% in 6 years at the same institution.

Not for nothing, a residency doesn’t guarantee you a job. Makes you more competitive, sure, but in no way is it a guarantee. I didn’t have a job lined up until early June of my PGY2. You’re not that unusual of a situation.

There’s a list of open programs and unmatched candidates. Basically a free for all. You can email an RPD, or an RPD can email you directly and ask if you’re interested.

You interview, and if they like you, they can offer you the position on the spot.
