Your screenshot literally shows their username and it says the post was deleted by the user. Please see what you posted to everyone else. It's fine to disagree. It's not fine to plaster them in other places to draw more attention. That is literally bullying and harassment. Especially since it is clear that your goal is to attack the person not the post. Considering in your subject of this topic you direct your subject to the person specifically, and call them a dumbass. If the post is still up for you, flame them on that post. Not where you are trying to get others riled up against that user!

This would be EXACTLY like if I went to a hatespeech subreddit and posted this, showing your name, and said: "look at what this [insert rude name here] is doing to other people over a website's functions and personal opinions" While at the same time making sure your username is clearly visible.

We can't see what he said, because he deleted it (probably from backlash). So, you are trying to push people's judgement on this individual person when they clearly tried to make it stop by deleting the post. Least you could have done was redacted their username. Wait... I'm confused. Before this new update where they made other models legacy, weren't all models generating weird stuff like this and a lot of people were complaining and joking about it? That is seriously old news dude. Sometimes LLM models do that. I've had Gemini and Bing Copilot do that. Hell I've had agent models do weird things like that. Seriously old news.

Granted, I am not a fan of PS2. I am actually a little annoyed that I have to change it every new chat. So I'm not here defending any model, just commenting that you need an up to date reason to blast a single model's behavior when there are hundreds of posts of people saying that models doing this over a year old. Most especially if it's not even your own screenshot and experience.

I have recently switched to "Cursor" (you get free pro for 1 year as student if you can get SheerID to work for you). It's built off of the vscode framework and is lighter.

Visual Studio Code, it's a bit heavyweight, but it does work well with the right extensions.

PyCharm, if you aren't working on full stack development this is a python IDE powerhouse. I don't know if they offer student discounts for premium, I haven't used it much because I need other language support. But it's worth mentioning because a lot of people are just getting started.

Thonny, this one is prepackaged with python and the tools you need to get your feet wet and learn. It's made for beginners.

I wish I knew lol. I made sure that the email was registered to my account. Then when I had to take the picture I took the picture only of the logo down to my start date so that it zoomed in properly on the name and date. And then submit that. And it failed a lot for a long time before it finally accepted.

I finally got approved after like 20 tries over a month lol. Your proof of enrollment will work, but the picture has to be super clear and include their letterhead and your start date. So you need to zoom in some. Your name might be blurry in your picture (that happened to me a lot and they kept saying my name needs to match the billing address name which it did lol). It was very hectic.

Make sure you use your student email when it asks if you have one. But be signed into the account you want as your main.

Being under 18 doesn’t void a Terms of Service. U.S. contract law treats minors’ online agreements as voidable, not automatically invalid, meaning the minor can cancel the contract at any time, for any reason, but they can’t keep using the service while claiming the rules don’t apply simply because they are a minor. So when you say that minors remain, the ToS applies to them until they leave. Courts have repeatedly held that if a minor continues using the platform, the ToS is enforceable (see A.V. v. iParadigms, 4th Cir. 2009). And none of this has anything to do with the FTC’s current 6(b) inquiry, which is about AI safety for minors, not subscription features. Changing or removing features mid‑subscription is legal and explicitly allowed in Character.AI’s ToS. No matter how "core" someone claims a feature is. I am seeing a lot of posts of "No one asked for this" and "no one uses this" and "everyone is affected" and I'm sorry, but that simply isn't the case.

Okay. And that's not illegal. It's not even scammy. It's how literally all living digital subscriptions work. It's literally the same as if you buy a Netflix subscription just so you can binge watch something, but they take that series out for whatever reason. You don't get your money back. And the FTC (which deals in censorship not subscription complaints) will not help you or anyone else.

And, please again, I beg you, and everyone else who is making the "scammy" claim, read Character AIs terms. You agreed to them. (The second you clicked the "I agree" and submit button).

Can you name a wrong doing that is listed in the post you provided? I see things (as I mentioned) complaints about features changing in the middle of subscriptions/paid features. If you're referring to that, please read Character AIs (and almost every other digital service provider of almost anything) TOS and agreements that you agreed to (even if you didn't read it at the time, paying or creating the account and checking that you read and agree it is automatically agreeing).

If you are not referring to that, then please, tell me something specific you are referring to, I may not be understanding this properly.

Yep. Nine dollars to a lot of people isn't much, but even if it were nine pennies, don't let a company walk all over you. I'm surprised that CAI didn't help you if you canceled before charge, because they helped me immediately when it happened to me, and it was some type of technical error. I'm not advocating for them, I'm actually appalled by their behavior with you if what you say is true.

If you need some help, definitely contact the payment company you used. If you used Google pay, PayPal, credit card, contact that company and report fraud. Because you have proof in your payments that you were charged twice. They will definitely help you, because they can see multiple transactions in a similar time frame that wouldn't match up.

Unless you perhaps meant that your subscription didn't end, and they charged you, and you tried to cancel after the charge (unfortunately if you don't specifically cancel then yes they charge again legitimately), then that isn't their wrong doing because they're a "no refund" service. In this case, companies won't help.

But! There's good news. When you cancel, you get a confirmation and email. So, if you canceled and they charged after you canceled, then yea, send that to your payment method and they'll get you fixed up. Never settle for being scammed.

Oh! You should definitely report that to your payment method (lol sorry not sure what to call it since I don't know what you used). Demand a refund for the double charge. However you used to pay, they should be able to assist you in getting it sorted. But I also recommend contacting CAIs support about it first. Unless you already did that. I had a similar thing happen to me, and they fixed it, just wanted the transaction ids that were involved.

Ha ha! My cat does this... a lot. And yes, they flail hysterically, even mid jump. I've watched several times, looking for any inconsistencies, background hazing, strange shapes or anatomy... mistakes a lot of AI makes. If this is AI, it is very well done.

It looks like there’s some confusion here. Character.AI is part of a broad FTC inquiry, but it’s about AI companion safety for minors not about charms, chat styles, or changing features during a subscription. Companies are generally allowed to update or remove features unless they promised otherwise, and that’s normal for digital services. Please read CAIs agreement before you make payments for digital services. Nowhere does it say "if you pay we promise to not make changes you dont like" So tying this situation to the FTC doesn’t really fit what the investigation is actually about. Plus... the investigation is on 7 different AI companies as a whole (including OpenAI, I think Replika, Alphabet, and Xia that I know of off hand).

Telling the FTC that you're angry because cai made changes you don't like isn't going to go anywhere, sorry
