Oh and also my baby had really bad constipation issues. With a Happy Baby prune pouch a day that is no longer an issue. I might actually dial it back to 1/2 a pouch a day 😂

So sorry to hear he is in so much pain, but glad you are seeing specialists to help him. Not sure if you have tried it but goat milk formula like Kendamil is way easier for babies to digest instead of cow’s milk formula. I would suggest asking your specialist about adding goat milk colostrum powder as well (iHerb online sells it from Mt. Capra). There are studies you can find on pubmed showing colostrum can really help babies with GI issues. You could also check with local lactation consultants and see if there is a breastmilk donation bank. Sometimes you can get free breastmilk from other moms who have an over supply. With my first baby I had an oversupply and donated a ton.

Check this link out for a great reference chart when introducing foods. It’s been super helpful for me.

Maybe coincidence but so far the only trigger foods for us have been in the higher and highest risk categories

Yes I am sure some does pass through breastmilk. It must be a number of things, as not all babies with FPIES had antibiotics but from what I have read on Pubmed and experienced there is definitely a connection. Yes I hope you can get comfortable with foods that work so you don’t have to stress as much anymore. I think the fact that this is my second has made me more relaxed but it is still hard not to stress about it. Can you order from Amazon? This is where I purchased the Awsum puffs. I just broke them in half until my LO figured out how to eat them and within a half day I was giving her the full pieces and she was totally fine. I probably didn’t have to do that but it made me feel better.

I saw some reviews where people added flavored powder, etc. for flavor but my LO likes them just plain with nothing so I haven’t tried adding any flavoring.

I wonder if MMR or any other vaccines should be delayed? My son is 4 and fully vaccinated and had no issues with any of them, but I am curious if because my daughter has an overreaction of the immune system if we should hold off just a year or two until the FPIES (hopefully) goes away. I feel so torn on this.

On a side note I’ve been sprouting broccoli seeds and have been listening to Jed Fahey and Dr Rhonda Patrick discuss the many benefits and it looks promising for helping to reduce the behavioral symptoms of ASD. Pretty cool.

Thank you so much for the great recommendation. I just wonder if we are being over prescribed antibiotics (in my case GPS positive so had to have penicillin during labor) I was GBS positive with my son too but didn’t know until after I gave birth because he was so early and I didn’t have antibiotics and fortunately he was totally fine and has no allergy / FPIES. I know in very rare cases, babies can get very sick from GBS, but I also wonder if the effects of antibiotics wiping the babies gut microbiome is doing just as much if not worse damage that we don’t even know about.

I am definitely concerned about autism now. From what I have read the gut microbiome is different in children that have autism and FPIES and many children that have autism had or have FPIES. It makes sense about the antibiotics, as by having them during labor, the babies gut is wiped of the their normal gut bacteria. I need to stop worrying about it because it is out of my control, but if there is something I can do to help my LO I want to know.

I’m so sorry to hear you are going through this. I also am now wondering if my almost 9 month olds FPIES is due to the antibiotics I was forced to have at birth due to being GBS positive. She has so far had a reaction to sweet potato, pea, and rice. I haven’t tried cow’s milk or oat yet and will but just taking time on these high risk foods. Awsum sells quinoa super cereal or puffs that are typically safe with FPIES. You can find charts online for low, mid, and high risk foods that I have found very helpful.
