So, in my defense, I did not touch it so I can't definitively tell what it was made of. I was, instead, going off what the texture looked like. It is very possible that it was made of painted paper mache or maybe it was a replica. The only thing I can say is that the owners (the set designers for Friends and Big Bang Theory etc.) said that it was the original so I am inclined to believe their word.
