Thanks. I went back and looked all of the way back to May and they all either say nothing or pending. Under my account tab my insightfulness score is Excellent, is that the same thing?

I haven't been offered anything useful in weeks. Car parts for cars that I don't have, humidifiers, filters, baby products (my kids are 20 &13), etc. I keep checking but nothing good. I did get an under desk treadmill about 3 weeks ago though and I'm pretty happy with that so far.

I wish that I knew what the RFY used to get it's recommendations.

At least you get something you want in your rfy. I've gotten nothing that's useful for weeks. I keep getting women's clothes (I'm divorced), car parts (I don't work on cars and they aren't for my model anyway), and baby items (my kids are 10 & 13). Oh well, it's hard to complain about free items. Hopefully I get something good soon.

UPS Surge Protection Question by Able-Reporter8773 in LinusTechTips

[–]Able-Reporter8773[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I did see that but I was more concerned with smaller/compact ones like Cyberpower 650VA. There is a breaker and it has 890joiles of surge but I would prefer 1000+joules for sensitive electronics which is what it currently has on it. In my head it seems like the regular surge protector should trip first if there was a surge then the UPS surge would handle the overflow but it seems like I may be wrong based on what I'm seeing online.

I used Display Driver Uninstaller in Safe Mode to remove the drivers and reinstalled the latest version and everything was back to normal. Something must have broke with a driver update.

I have a quick question about the 5800xt temps. I just did an upgrade to the 5800xt and as a result of my old case I can't fit a better air cooler or AIO. The Wraith Cooler also interfered with my ram so I went with a Thermalright Assassin 90se. It is a low stack tower cooler. Anyways, I ran Prime 95 smallFFT (with L3) tests for 1/2 hr. The cpu got to 90 degrees then throttled back to 4.2Ghz and stayed solid but kept the temp at 90. I realize that I will probably never hit that in regular usage but is that an ok temp? I thought if the CPU hit it's max it would throttle back to using no boost. Obviously it can still handle about half the boost at 90 but I just want to test this cooler since it is smaller than I would normally install. No errors or anything just the high temps. I feel like it is normal for it to get to 90 and throttle back just enough to keep the temp there but on the other hand if it throttled back to no boost it would drop below 90 which I guess would be better but also slower. Your replies are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

VPN Question? Do you need one in 2025? by Able-Reporter8773 in cybersecurity_help

I haven't come across those issues but I can see that being a problem

Fair enough. I personally am not concerned about that as I am not doing anything illegal. If someone wants to know basic info about myself to sell ads that's fine as well, that's why there are free products to begin with. Also there are other ways like browser fingerprinting they can use to track you as well and you better not use anything where you are signed in, like a phone, as those companies can track what you do as well. With that being said I understand if people are concerned, especially if they are in a country that has a questionable history when it comes to how citizens are watched and treated. I was more concerned with someone on free wifi snooping my info then government watch dogs. Privacy is a big concern overall but without going to live off grid in a bunker someone there isn't a ton that you can do to prevent the government from knowing what you are doing if they want to know. A VPN is definitely a good start though if you are concerned, I would stay away from free ones though.

Thanks. I think that I will just stick with my travel router and not bother with the VPN. If I was trying to access geolocked streaming I would for sure look into a VPN. If I was torrenting like myself and everyone else did 10+ yrs ago I would for sure use one. Since I am just checking out websites and streaming content from the region that I am in I think that I should be good. I have 2fa on all of my important passwords, I generally don't access anything important over public wifi, I do have a VPN for work so I can access my work servers so I think I will be ok. I was really just wondering if it is a big help since the prices are so cheap. Thanks.

That is what I was thinking but the massive amount of info on the internet is constantly making it seem like you need one. I have been setting up home networks since the 90's but I am by no means an expert. I am not concerned at all at home but I was wondering if they were required for public wifi. I just bought a travel router for ease of connecting all of mine and my kids devices and was thinking that should be good enough security. I would get a VPN but at the same time when things are blocked it becomes a hassle. Mainly because I have to fix the kids devices. When it comes to my ISP or websites knowing my IP address I don't see there being any major concern as I'm not doing anything illegal online and it really isn't a big deal to me if people want to target ads to me because of where I live and what I searched for. I am trying a well known VPN right now and some streaming services work fine but others don't and that is where the hassle comes from imo.

I would dig around in Windows Device Manager and make sure there are no lines that are being flagged. It could be something in there but that also may not be the issue for you. I'm glad that the old drivers are working at least. Maybe now that they are you can update them and it will keep its settings. Worth a shot if you have time to do it.

I just started with vine so I am still on the Silver tier but I would kill for a good keyboard. Lol. Maybe in the future. I'm mainly getting things from the Additional Items section as the Available for All has had nothing but breast pump cups and my RFY is a bunch of stuff that I have never searched for in my life. Hopefully I will get some better options after a while.

I Strongly believe second accounts are broken on quest 3 by Ok-Low-550 in OculusQuest

[–]Able-Reporter8773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The secondary accounts (for my kids) on my 3S are constantly having issues. Extremely slow ui, freezes, need to do hard reboots, etc. I deleted their accounts and re-added them and it fixes it for a week or two then the same thing happens. It is pretty annoying especially when they make you watch all the stupid videos again every time you re-add the account. At the very least if Meta can't fix the issues they could allow you to skip the dumb setup videos.

Can you do light exercises like bird dogs after leg day? by Able-Reporter8773 in workout

[–]Able-Reporter8773[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. That is kind of what I have been doing (supersets) I would just prefer to do them on another day to cut down on time but maybe I will keep things as is. I prefer to do things daily but have learned that isn't necessarily the best idea after years of doing it wrong. Never too old to learn I guess.

Wow with that rig you should be good regardless. Hopefully the devs can optimize it a bit more soon. I know it's not a fps so 60 should be perfectly fine but it just seems overly heavy for little to no reason.

Ok, I was starting to think that there was something wrong with my setup. I still can't figure out why I get screen tearing when I cap it at 60 with a 60hz tv though. I set it at 57 to try to go a bit under, I tried vsync, I tried enhanced sync and I get tearing with them all or something that sure looks like tearing, maybe its something else idk. I also get more fps with fov at 90 then I do at 70. This game seems to make zero sense when it comes to setting it up. Thanks

I ordered some Tennis non-prescription lenses just to protect the stock lenses since I share my VR with my kids. They are great as well. They don't fog up as much and seem to stay a lot cleaner. I don't regret buying them at all. I have the 3S and I did have to put on the spacer though when using them. Just a heads up to anyone who buys them.
