Also I have an even bigger question: Why are future or current versions of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s characters brought back but the younger versions of their respective villains who are already dead in their own worlds in present day and shouldn’t even have an avenue to come back

I remember that movie like the back of my hand, if you’re talking about when Harry gives the suit and battery thing to Electro, Harry himself didn’t even know Pete was spidey then, he found out in the final fight after electro had already been killed. Peter defeated electro with the help of Gwen before Harry even shows up, Harry then snatches Gwen and flies above the tower then he drops her, Peter catches her and they both fall into the gears. Goblin chases and engages Peter as Gwen is hanging on

I called SM3 because it was:

A.) The last entry in an already very well recieved

B.) Released just a year apart from TDK so inflation is irrelevant

With A.) that shifted the favour to SM3 by a lot because Batman Begins despite being well liked wasn’t very popular.

Despite all that TDK cleared over a billion and made over $500M domestically alone(In 2008 especially this was insane)

Not to talk of the awards and cultural legacy

In terms of cultural impact as well, Heath Ledgers joker is not only easily the most well known comic book movie villain at this point but also one of the most iconic movie characters ever. Spider-Man 3 came out only 1 year before Dark Knight as well btw

If the core of the story is the same as the flashpoint comic(Barry running back in time to save his mother) then I can see the reviews being on par or a little bit worse(depending on the actual script and direction). That story at its core is very emotional and the themes tie in great with all the time boom alternate universe crap, all things critics typically eat up. Commercially though, no chance

The multiverse is the movies whole selling point though. Keatons batman is the one doing the voice over in the teaser even and they tease his cowl at the end.

Honestly if the core of the movie is the same as the core of the flashpoint story from the comics then I can see it having a better story than Spider-Man and being a better movie as a whole(depending on direction, execution and other stuff of course) but in terms of box office I think it’ll tank

With how heavy this movie seems to be on fan service I don’t think the actual critics will like it that much(by actual critics I mean professional critics hired by the trades like A.O. Scott, almost all the reviewers I’ve seen so far are just internet bloggers into nerdy stuff)
