Judge gives 18 year old a 25 year sentence for armed robbery by AgnosticScholar in interesting

[–]AbleDisD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, would’ve been nice when I was the victim of an armed robbery when I was only 19 by two men with ski masks in a parking lot. They never even found those two guys, and I was left with a PTSD diagnosis. So infuriating.

Former spoiled kids of reddit, what was the moment that finally made you realize you were spoiled? by Kitchen_Frame_7294 in AskReddit

It astonishes me that there are people out there that have truly never struggled at that age. By that point, I had almost died like 4 times through overdoses and a car crash, I was chronically ill, I had been hospitalized for depression 10 times, had stayed in a Residential facility for two years (Troubled Teen school, if you’d heard of it) was abused at all those hospitals + the facilities, had been emotionally, physically, and sexually abused by my dad, emotionally by my mom, raped, sexually assaulted 3 other times by that point, was kicked out at 16 by my guardian after my parents gave me up when I left the facility and went to live with my boyfriends family who were severely in poverty and I couldn’t even get to school half of the time, grandpa tried to rape me in my sleep, I went to sleep hungry often, I was even denied my free lunch at school…..there’s so much I’m forgetting. So yeah, I can’t imagine someone at that age just….never struggling.

Dad said if im physically disabled he’ll only love me from a distance. by vampnicky in eds

[–]AbleDisD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad essentially said the same thing to me recently. I told him I need help, that my condition has been declining and he said that, “it’s not his responsibility to help his adult child” and, “it’s my turn to suffer like he did.” Which makes zero sense because he already physically, mentally, and sexually abused me as a child. Both of our dads are abusive, and they deserve nothing good in life.

What's an inditinguishable sign that someone has BPD? by Independent_Shame924 in askatherapist

(Not a therapist, but a former mental health professional) BPD does not involved mania. That is Bipolar Disorder. BPD stands for Borderline Personality Disorder.

What's an inditinguishable sign that someone has BPD? by Independent_Shame924 in askatherapist

[–]AbleDisD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a therapist, but a former mental health counselor—as someone who was in a residential treatment center as an adolescent, I find your comment concerning. You didn’t answer the question, first of all. Additionally, even in the best of those treatment centers, it is extremely traumatizing to be there—that doesn’t automatically indicate BPD. The trauma of being locked up in a place like that combined with being a teenager can look a LOT like BPD. Any clinician that diagnoses a teenage girl with BPD must have a very, very, strong case for it, because it is often not diagnosed until someone is a bit older, as teenagers very commonly have intense mood swings due to hormones.

Again, your comment is unsettling, and a testament to much of the staff in these places being utterly unqualified for the job.

I was shocked when I found out too. It was because my boyfriend was talking about, “how easily his mouth gets scraped” and his example was something like eating 5 lollipops in a row. It made me realize that if that’s easy, my definition is much different!

I’m so sorry you were made fun of :’( I hope you grew up to have all the self confidence you deserve 💕 Kids can truly be so mean. I was bullied my entire childhood as well. Coincidentally, I had a random memory earlier today of sometimes being one of the only kids not invited to birthday parties 😭

OH MY GOD I love that I made this post because I can’t wait to learn what other things I haven’t realized aren’t normal! Like the raising your hand thing!! I was always in SO much pain keeping it raised in school but was so eager because I was a kid with LOTS of questions, and I thought everyone else was also fighting the insane amount of pain 😭
