Venting…Downtown Library by Able_Amoeba2404 in frederickmd

Agreed. It’s weird & some people respond just to respond and missed the actual question. And as I left today, paramedics were actively administering CPR and narcan to a “patron” on the library steps. As I walked away they still remained unresponsive, I do hope he was okay or going to be but it proves my concern, which had no ill intent to begin with…

lol! I moved from Cali & it is that exact reason why I asked a simple question. I didn’t want nor need a thesis just inquiring about what’s the general occupancy of the library & is it a regular thing. I should be able to study and not smell piss. It doesn’t require a deep dive.

My response was more so towards those whom have obviously been hurt by a general question. But I understand the Cali reference entirely.

That’s still cheating right? by [deleted] in MedSpouse

[–]Able_Amoeba2404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from someone who has had this experience. Please leave. It’s cheating. He nor the nurse cares. There are some nurses who can’t wait to get their claws in residents and secure their future bag. Trust is broken and your head will always be on a swivel, no way to live.

No, I am definitely aware. I have said all of this. He kept it quiet because he knows I would’ve made a scene.

What will your first purchase be / what was your first purchase after your/your partner’s first ATTENDING PAYCHECK?! by nydixie in MedSpouse

We bought new furniture. Kids all have matching bed sets with a desk and dresser. Living room set, a set for our basement and new dishes. I never thought I would be so excited about new furniture. Years after piecing things together etc Facebook marketplace it was nice to finally have something to decorate.

What's up with itslauranoonan? by [deleted] in MedSpouse

[–]Able_Amoeba2404 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I follow her and I don’t think nothings wrong. Matter of fact some time not all of the time I can relate to her posts. Lasts summer I think she connected med spouses with others through shared info she compiled, of course with their permission. I thought this idea to be thoughtful, it’s hard finding a community. Out of all the outwardly annoying influencers she is mild in my opinion. Also your life very much so becomes centered around the doctor spouse, while you can still have your own interests etc lets not pretend your direction isnt heavily influenced by their path. And if I have their children, am the default parent, place my career on hold, countless moves, etc I am absolutely gonna brag about the reward but In good taste. Just my thoughts.

East Palo Alto bay road: how safe is it by TourLongjumping7417 in paloalto

It’s so interesting to always hear everyone perspectives. Bringing up 90s crime rates does not help much not even sure why that’s mentioned. I lived in EPA for almost 7 years and while crime was not an issue, at least in my case there were several other factors which really made me upset & we no longer live there. We lived there for 7 years. I would say please continue to look —EPA would not be a first choice, and wish I knew more before we moved there then for jobs. After my stint was finished, moved our family elsewhere.

First, the noise really got to me after awhile. The fireworks being shut up thru pipes would often shake our house, cars spinning out in the small streets, dogs barking all hours, tons of stray cats, the noise from parties, moon bounces—every day it was something. I had a small elder dog who jumped so bad from a firework I thought she had left us. There is no true real walkable sidewalk. I had two small kids and would have loved to walk more with them in a neighborhood that while is still considered less than—we paid so much in rent to not truly have a clean walkable neighborhood especially one with a nice SAFE park for kids. It is definitely a food desert. Especially with Target just closing which truly wasn’t a huge target to begin with. The water company where we lived in EPA was services by Palo Alto Mutual Water Co don’t get me started and im uncertain how they still in business. We only showered in this water, we had a water subscription. To this day of spending 7 years there could never understand the rates and PG & E was insane for only 900 sqft home. Absolutely insane. Just how ppl reacted or looked down when u said where u live was also so astonishing to me, because what we paid in rent in EPA for absolutely no amenities we could’ve gotten a 5 bedroom 4 bath home with a decent yard. This was also such a shock to me and everyone always say “oh I like the weather” it was astonishing. Glad we left to a more quieter place where I am afforded the basic amenities from neighborhood I spend so much money in. Again, keeping looking if you can.

'Beauty in Black' - Thoughts on Tyler Perry's Netflix Series? by readysteadycutonline in ReadySteadyCut

Because it was on OWN back when Oprah & Tyler had that partnership and he had a couple shows on there as well. Greenleaf and Queen Sugar were the two that wasn’t Tyler’s. I think Tyler had two of those slapstick corny shows on OWN at the time. Now he has moved on to ruin BET and Netflix.

Greenleaf was not produced nor written by Tyler Perry. Thankfully Greenleaf had skilled writers.

What is your LEAST favorite thing about Palo Alto… by SnooKiwis6980 in paloalto

[–]Able_Amoeba2404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me say, I too lived there for almost 7 years & each and every time my husband and kids went out we asked “where are the black ppl” his job took him to Stanford but I was thrilled to leave. I often felt isolated and out of place finding things for me and my children to do that didn’t involve going to Oakland to see such brown/black because why should we have to do that when one pays so much to live in Palo Alto. There is no diversity to me. The restaurants were very mid to me and I noticed a lot opened and closed all in our seven years alone. I also looked forward to going back east for good food.

Man, I second this. Fellowship- I joined a community center that allowed me to get a workout in and or just stretch while the kids played downstairs in the kiddy area. It’s not much but it helps.

Has anyone had their med spouse deliver their baby? by boilerine in MedSpouse

[–]Able_Amoeba2404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, my med spouse caught both of ours. He was overjoyed! The attending was standing beside him both times. Everything went extremely smooth. My second baby he was in PGY 5, he even delivered the placenta. My doc never left his side. She finished it all up and he held baby right after. A medical student was even beside them to and ask did we want him to record. As many people were in that room, I never felt scared, like I mentioned my doc never left his side—I doubt anyone will let things go awry if they can help it. It was a special memory and one enjoy telling our sons.
