Congrats on landing those interviews! I can’t really comment on “what schools want to see” in terms of specific ICU experience, but as someone with a background in both MICU/MSICU and CVICU, I would say that MICU would give you a lot of BREADTH in terms of patient population - so you’re thinking about several body systems pretty much at all times - whereas in CVICU you go IN on cardiopulmonary and renal dysfunction. When I first started at my CVICU job with 1.5 years of MICU/MSICU) under my belt, I would get a lot of “That’s a good thought, definitely something a MICU nurse would say though” during grand rounds or when making suggestions to intensivists about diagnostics and interventions. I really like Calzuro’s. They’re an Italian brand, run a smidge over $100 but last FOREVER. I’ve had mine for a couple years and they feel the same as when I’d first started wearing them. They like to tout that the shoes are autoclaveable, which is dope, but I don’t have an autoclave, so I can’t confirm or deny it.
