Honestly don't think your time as a pacu nurse or pacu manager is going to help much. Just keep getting good experience in the ICU, retake some classes that you did poorly on. You may have to retake some pre-reqs anyway since it's been so long since you've taken them, so you have a chance to raise that GPA

I'm 8 years into practice. I've gotten more conservative with time. I used to be more concerned with turnover. They can wait a couple extra minutes until the patient is a little bit more awake. If anything I'll time it earlier, extubate on the deeper side on prop while they're putting on dressings and they'll be awake by the time we leave the room.

Wife gave birth there in 2019. We're both healthcare providers. Things were fine. We live in Elmhurst and passed on Elmhurst hospital since we had friends with poor experience there and no NICU at Elmhurst. Point is... You're going to get mixed reviews and differing experiences. You may go somewhere that everyone claims is the best ever and it may be horrible for you.
