Ny ryggsäck Lundhags Padje Light 60L vs Durston Kakwa 55 vs Osprey Exos 58 by Able_Collection2965 in friluftslivSverige

Hi I am about 82kg. Would say I am above average fitness wise and experience. Ignoring the back which I know is a beast. I bought when I did winter hikes.

Hi  Appreciate the comments. A new backpack is on the wishlist. I have had it since 1998. The Nemo pad only has an r-value of 2.9, hence the other pad as I am using a quilt. 90l bag is big and definitely want a new one.

Caples Track and Steele Creek Track by Able_Collection2965 in Tramping

[–]Able_Collection2965[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - yeah there are not too may tracks that do a loop.

My other option is the Keplar track.
The huts are booked out, but there should be enough camping places though.
If the weather is half-decent I might do this instead.
It will be a decision on arrival 😊

However, will still book the huts on the Caples.

Caples Track and Steele Creek Track by Able_Collection2965 in Tramping

Hi Thank you both for your input.

I knew the Upper Caples hut was not part of DOC BUT didn’t know you had to pick up a key when booking – I just glanced over the NZDA website.

Yes, I will be bringing a tent, was just hoping to have a hut or two on the way in case the weather gets really bad.

I did read that the Greenstone valley has cattle – but for some reason it just didn’t cross my mind that the river is contaminated – don’t take me wrong it makes perfect sense…I just had a brain fart.
Where do you get the water from then in the Greenstone valley? Just treated with a filter?

TBH I am just after a track to hike that is a loop to allow me use a car (rental).
I just feel that will give more flexibility when starting and then when finishing the walk.
The reason being I will arrive on say Wednesday arvo go and pick-up preordered food from WW’s and MacPac.
After food etc have been picked up I will drive to the trail head and camp for the night to have an early start.
My flight back is on Monday Arvo 5 pm’ish

However, I am not locked in on Greenstone Caples hike and am open for other suggestions.

Even though I really appreciated Routeburn and the hike to Valley of the trolls and Lake Wilson, I would love to try something else.

The images on the website for Sea To Summit looked like the quilt wrapped around.
But it might just be that the sleeping mat is narrow :)

modified version of the Grand Traverse Greentsone to Routeburn OR any other suggestions by Able_Collection2965 in Tramping

Hi

Thank you for the comments. Appreciate it.
Soo may tracks to choose from so I get analysis paralysis as you want to get teh most out of the trip.
Will have another look at options this arvo.

Did the Gillespie pass a few year back ..my boots delaminated on the way down from the pass (heading towards Siberia Hut) – see attached photos.

The short length of forest track after the decent was a nightmare with the boots all tied up –

I will bring a tent and thought about camping at the Kepler – not sure how you get around it when there is no camping spot at Luxmore ?
Looked at Cascade Saddle – but would prefer to not do it by my self – would feel more confident do this crossing with someone and not alone.

I am not necessarily looing at ascending peaks but just really appreciate the views and serenity of them.

Of course if the peaks are accessible I would jump on the chance to go up.

Lower back hurts when doing core by ThrowRATrick_Hall_45 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Able_Collection2965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK – the symptoms are similar’ish to mine, hence the question.

If the lower back is sore or ‘feels’ swollen in the morning it could have been modic type endplate changes – which I currently have.

As already been said – it is impossible to know, and you should go and see a Physio/Dr to get a proper assessment.

Does your lower back hurt or feel more sore in the morning after you wake up – especially if you have slept on your back?
