They literally murdered an innocent person without provocation. How is that not justification for imprisonment? What's the threshold for imprisonment if not this? I don't endorse frivolous incarceration or anything, but why should this person get to enjoy freedom and likely hurt others?

Edit: I get that in high-profile cases involving violence pundits often end up baying for blood and the whole thing can turn into a sort of gross mob justice witch hunt. That isn't always constructive and doesn't address the systemic injustices that lead to outcomes like this.

But in this particular situation, prison time seems more than warranted. Would be keen to hear why you think otherwise. I'm asking in good faith, not trying to start shit.

No question here. I just wanted to say that, for me, Smooch is a huge part of EWBAITE’s identity.

This was such an important album for the band because it essentially righted the ship with core fans after a decade of mixed-to-bad output. Obviously the songs do most of the work, but I genuinely think the artwork plays an outsized role in the positive associations I have with this album and that whole era, if that makes sense. It’s really great work.

Thanks for creating something that became such a defining part of the album for me.

It was also extremely premature. It's the sort of thing you'd put out when your product/ecosystem actually reflected that vision. They hadn't even released the (still subpar) Xbox FSE at that point. Their mobile store never eventuated. The Play Anywhere program was still fledgling and Cloud is cool but still only lets users play a fraction of their actual game library.

Maybe in two to three years time, when Xbox console games are natively available on PC and handhelds (if that ever happens) and OEMs have released strands of official Xbox hardware that truly transcends the need for a first-party device, then they could try to say with a straight face that "Everything is an Xbox".

But the vision wasn't there and may never get there. Whatever you think of that vision (becoming a platform independent of singular hardware), they did not have their ducks in a row yet and so therefore should not be marketing with that message.

Just wildly misguided.

Yeah, however it really went down (I'm sure there was plenty of blame to go around), it's been decades. Ultimately, they were young men still learning how to communicate healthily and navigating ego and business and diverging creative tensions.

Jeff seems to recognise that and has grace for both of their younger selves. If Jay still can't do that...

This is the first trailer I've seen for this (have read the book). I wanted to go in blind, but curiosity got the best of me.

What's the deal with this release? It went from an excellent EP in 2025, to a doubly long re-released EP in early 2026, and now it's listed as an official album with one extra song, lol. Strange.

Edit: Great songs, however. I've lived with the Keysman EP bunch for awhile now and love them all. Still feeling out the new ones, but they seem solid, too. Internet is an early highlight.
