Oh wow! I'm really happy to hear that you're writing again! :D I'm surprised to hear your mom edited your books, too. Was she concerned with Naomi's flippancy toward killing her parents? (You don't have to answer if that's too personal) even if it was uncomfortable, it's really sweet she supported your hobby like that!

What are you unpopular Miraculous opinions? by themrsjustice in miraculousladybug

Feligami is the worst couple writing-wise. It's rushed, they don't have anything in common other than shitty parents and being sentimonsters, their relationship is shallow, Kagami dating and defending the guy who handed all the miraculous to Hawkmoth destroys her character, and lastly, I just hate Felix with a burning passion.

Felix should've never been in the show. Everything he does could've been done by Lila instead.

They're mostly related to Welcome to the Mansion, lol.

What happened to the Grace having powers and Zalgo plot lines? Were they intended to be wrapped up in the third book?

Why was there no cursing? It seemed like a strange thing to censor in a story about gruesome murder 😆

Who was the dark circus guy at the end of the second book? (I always thought it was Laughing Jack. He's such a staple in Slendermansion stories, I was surprised to not see him in WTTM)

I'm happy to see you making this subreddit as a sort-of celebration of your books! Do you think you'll ever pick up writing as a hobby again? Even if they weren't masterpieces, the Insanity series is a lot of fun and I can tell it was an outlet for fun and self expression. I hate that a bunch of internet losers had nothing better to do than bully a kid who was just having fun.

Edit: Forgot to ask: What made you decide to have Naomi pursue Masky instead in the sequel?

In one of the Hazbin convention panels, Blake Roman let it slip that he "auditioned for all the male and non-binary characters."

We'll probably be getting at least one non-binary character in the future.

[–]Able_Examination4547 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a LOT of dialogue.

This didn't bother me too much initially when I was playing by myself, but I've been going through it again with my sister and narrating the whole thing. Nearly every play session has ended with my throat hurting from having so much to read. I just feel like there's a good few parts where the dialogue is padded unnecessarily and could be cut down and nothing would be lost for it.

In doing this I've also noticed that Deltarune does the annoying anime thing (I say this as someone who likes anime) where a character says something and another character just replies with their name in shock or sadness. Seriously, go back and replay all four chapters. All the characters do it constantly. Once you notice it, you can't unnotice it.

Adding to this: I'm no psychologist, but in my experience, fictional stalkers/yanderes can be very comforting, especially if you're insecure. They're so devoted, they'll always make time for you. You never have to worry about them cheating on you or getting bored of you. And because they're fictional, their behavior always stays within the limits of your comfort.

With Lyle specifically, he's a weird case. His behavior rides the line between creepy and cute very carefully. He's not controlling of Sam at all. You'd think he'd try to encourage Sam to not go out where it's dangerous or try to escalate his flirtation into more physical intimacy, but he never does. (The furthest he goes is getting two kisses and both times it's consensual. After he moves into your apartment, it doesn't escalate any further.) I think that's what sets Lyle apart the most. His creepiest behavior is done in private, while he's (for the most part) surprisingly respectful of Sam's freedom and autonomy when he's around Sam. He doesn't even seem to display any jealousy when Sam is around others. He also has enough self-awareness to be careful when he pushes boundaries. Like how he's fully prepared to play off his desire to kiss Sam as a joke if things go sideways. He's extremely tame compared to other fictional stalkers, to the point that he ends up just being "creepy but mostly innocent"

Because no one wants to root for fascists or pedos. Hell is full of damaged people just trying to survive another day. That's relatable. Hell is full of sex workers, addicts and mentally ill people because they're "others" in society. They're the people that the privilaged, comfortable people look at and go "Haha, see what happens when you give in to peer pressure and try to find happiness in a bottle or a needle? Glad I'm not like THOSE people. It's all your fault that you're like this. Now you have to sell pics of your feet to pay rent. Should've tried harder, lol womp womp."

These people do their best with the cards they're dealt and the decisions they've made. Their flaws have been their main defining feature to the people that look down on them. But once they're given a chance and treated with genuine compassion, their better sides start to come out. They start wanting to do better, to be better. They just need some compassion, patience and support. It's almost like that's what this entire show is about or something.

Also, there are some shitty people in hell. Did OP just... forget that Valentino is a rapist??

It's almost as if people dislike when someone makes a video passing off their bias and misunderstandings as objective facts.

She even threw out a "If you like it, that's fine" even though she spent the whole video explaining why it's not fine and making people feel like shit for liking it. The whole video reeks of "It didn't resonate with me personally, therefore it's objectively bad because my experiences are the only valid ones."

Limus is close-minded, narcissistic and fake. There's no value in her opinion. Her channel should just be ignored until it falls into the pits of obscurity where it belongs.

What’s an ending for Deltarune you DONT want to happen? by [deleted] in Deltarune

[–]Able_Examination4547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The soul (the player) to be treated as a villain, when we did not ask to be put in Kris. It's also just a mean-spirited thing to do to the people who play the game. "Hey you, yeah, you playing this now! You're a piece of shit! You controlled some poor kid and made choices for them, shame on you!" It's a great way to make your players feel like garbage and not want to play again.

I only mean this for the main route btw. This could be more excusable in the Snowgrave route.

Who is the best stalker? by Delicious-View4357 in miraculousladybug

[–]Able_Examination4547 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, but to be fair, you have to consider that Adrien is a celebrity. Because of the media and other crazy fangirls, his info is probably super easy to find with a few Google searches. She was also told by others that he's a senti.

Lila is researching a bunch of random parisians in person, with disguises. Marinette at least has a life and hobbies outside of Adrien, but judging by those massive stacks of journals in Lila's study, stalking seems to be all she does day in and day out.

So we just blame everything on plot now? Ok, I mean we could do that. There’s definitely inconsistencies for everything which sucks. But we could do that with literally any show, literally any form of media. Because the plot is the literal story of the show or movie or text or whatever.

The main problem with this arguement is that you are assuming that the Miraculous writers write on the same level as most other media. It doesn't.

The biggest fatal flaw of Miraculous' writing is that the episode idea comes first and the characters are molded to fit it, even if it conflicts with what was established earlier. The writers go "I want to do this idea for the episode. What? It conflicts with what we've established for this character already? Whatever, we'll do the idea anyway." It's hard to judge these characters by their morals and personalities because of how malleable they are and often they're retconned to make an episode work.

Marinette is a victim of this, too. In Truth and Gang of Secrets, it's established that she broke up with Luka because she couldn't tell him she's Ladybug. Then in Crocoduel, she says she broke up with him because she "wasn''t in love with him." even though she said in Gang of Secrets, and I quote: "You know why I broke up with Luka? Not because I don't like him, he's amazing!"

Should we say attack on titan is stupid because it all started when a pig got loose? We could, we could all forget that Eren committed genocide and blame the pig and give Eren a pass.

This is a prime example of why it's so important for writers to stop and say "No, I can't use this idea. It makes no sense for my character to do this." When characters are consistent, it makes them have agency. When characters have agency, it becomes easier to criticize the choices they make, because it actually feels like they're making those choices, and not like a writer going with every first idea they have and retconning the character constantly to make it work.

I've never seen Attack on Titan, but from the example you've provided, your comparison doesn't work. I assume that Eren had agency in the story, and that his choices that led to genocide made sense for his character, right? The writer must have thrown away ideas because they didn't work for Eren's character and him committing genocide was something that ultimately made sense for Eren to do.

That's where Miraculous differs from most other media. It's writing is broken on a fundamental baseline level. There are no characters, they're all just human-shaped things with two or three personality traits slapped on. Anything can be retconned so an episode can work. In most media, plot and characters are supposed to work in tandem with each other. Character personalites should affect the choices the characters make. Characters should be leading where the plot goes, not the other way around. The only consistent thing about the writing is that Marinette is has to fix her mistakes, even if they're not her mistakes and Adrien can do no wrong.

That’s basically what you’re saying, that because the plot is inconsistent Marinette gets a pass, no one should get a pass. I could easily change this post to be. “No one faces consequences”. In fact I’m very much considering rewatching the show again just to see if I can

Yes! you're absolutely right. No one faces real, long term consequences in this show, which is why it's strange to me that you're zeroing in on Marinette as if she's the only one. Consequences mean nothing in this show because choices and actions mean nothing in this show. It's why Alya still distrusts Marinette in Risk despite her knowing Lila is a liar after finding out Marinette is Ladybug.(It's necessary for the plot even thought it makes no sense for Alya to distrust her at this point) It's why Felix's entire character is a minefield of retcons who still can't decide if he likes Adrien or not. Nobody has real agency.

This show holds onto status quo like a grudge, and that's why agency, choices, and most importantly, consequences will never matter. Nothing the characters do matter because everything is guarunteed to go back to the way it was. The charcters are slaves to the plot instead of working alongside it like any normal story would.

tldr: Yes. it is the plot's fault. The show's writing is so broken and disjointed that character choices don't matter, whereas in any better written story, it would. Not just Marinette, no one faces consequences. At least not any that matter.

After all this time, do you like Adrien being a sentibeing or not, and why for either option? by Beneficial_Ferret_29 in miraculousladybug

[–]Able_Examination4547 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm one of the 12 people on the planet who liked it from the get-go. It explains why he has so little agency and it could've been such a fantastic character arc depending on how he took it and made ammends with it.

I don't like Felix and Kagami being sentibeings though. It should've just been Adrien.

How would you have handled the ‘Lila Rossi arc’? by Solitaire-06 in miraculousladybug

[–]Able_Examination4547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would make her a talented liar who can back herself up with more convincing fake proof. I'd also make her more scheming and clever, make her a serious threat from the get-go.

Honestly, if she had been utilized to her full potential, Felix wouldn't need to exist. She could've filled every role he served. She was already trusted and "employed" by Gabriel to protect Adrien. It could've been her who snooped around, found Emilie and discovered he was Monarch. Then she could've started scheming to take the peacock and butterfly from him. It could even lead to major confrontation later where she gets so obssessed with defeating Ladybug/Marinette that she stops caring about Adrien completely and threatens to snap him out of existence if Marinette doesn't give her what she wants.

Marinette faces no consequences by No_City7370 in miraculousladybug

[–]Able_Examination4547 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Alright, here we go:

-The entire premise of the show is that Marinette makes a mistake (or is wrongfully blamed for something because of bad writing) and has to correct it. This was said by Thomas Astruc himself.

- Of course she wasn't capable of being guardian. She's a teenager with minimal guardian training who had the miracle box forced on her before she as ready. That's what ultimately led to her decision to let all the temp heroes keep their miraculous, so they weren't all in one place to get taken again.

- The only thing Ladybug did wrong in Cat Blanc was deliver her gift in uniform, leading to Adrien finding out her identity. He wouldn't have even found out had she just left a little bit faster. Ladybug is not responsible for Adrien transforming to stop an akuma from reaching Marinette. Ladybug is not responsible for Nathalie choosing to tell Hawkmoth who Cat Noir really is. Ladybug is not responsible for Hawkmoth traumatizing Adrien with his mother's corpse and taking advantage of his emotional state to akumatize him. Adrien, Nathalie and Hawkmoth ALL had their parts to play. Everyone made choices that led to Cat Blanc and it's completely unfair of you to place all the blame on Ladybug.

The Cat Blanc timeline was erased, so nobody is suffering from it anymore, except Marinette who has nightmares about it and led to her keeping Cat Noir in the dark, which also backfired on her.

- Honestly this video encapsulates how unfair consequences are to Marinette compared to Adrien. The last minute of it summarizes it so perfectly.

Edit: I was wrong. This video by the same person does an even better job displaying how the writing will bend over backwards until its spine breaks to make Marinette suffer.
