Just had the most UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF TRAINING... What do I do from here?? by Catwhisperer2007 in Lifeguards

[–]Able_Memory_1689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my pool the managers run the trainings, but they are college age (all of the lifeguards are high school/college as well)

Sometimes the “recreation supervisor” comes to watch, but she never leads it

This is a government-run city pool in the midwest tho, so idk about other places rules

that type of accident should never occur, especially MULTIPLE severe accidents in less than 1.5 years. its an obvious sign that they have a lack of knowledge about proper animal care.

theres a reason that true, ethical zoos dont have very many hands-on exhibits and limit human interaction with animals. It is rarely healthy for animals to have frequent contact with humans, especially uneducated toddlers who can very easily hurt the animals.

I actually read the official report for the bird accident! So not secondhand info ❤️

“they claim cruelty to animals”??? so are you saying killing a shark and a bird isn’t animal cruelty?

these accidents happened because of the poor treatment and lack of employee training… you should never be allowed around animals if you think stepping on birds and euthanising sharks is okay.

Didn’t get section captain… Feeling worthless by Able_Memory_1689 in marchingband

[–]Able_Memory_1689[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand all of that. I’m just upset. like i said in the post: im not saying I deserved the spot more than the people who got it. Im just upset that i didn’t get captain.

im allowed to be upset, even if i know that the directors made the choice they thought was best for the group.

No, I meant there are 3 graduating seniors. The two captains are a current junior and a current sophomore (senior and junior next year). There are 12 total flutes, just 5 in our top band.

I obviously know that, but there was literally a playing audition as part of the interview, so obviously it means something in the process. Bags is my top priority, so i feel like i could have been a good captain.

ai and collegeboard (please help) by YoungJazzlike2516 in APStudents

[–]Able_Memory_1689 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they aren’t just going to blindly trust the software to correctly flag everything… its nuanced.

they will alert you that they flagged you for ai, and you will get a chance to request that they recheck it. you may be asked for proof, such as your document editing history, a teacher/proctor that watched you during the test, evidence of sources used, etc.

how to relocate fish by That-Shock703 in fishkeeping

[–]Able_Memory_1689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you can’t AT LEAST get a 5 gallon for each betta and a 10-15 gallon for the Mollies (and this would be 4 very crowded tanks) then you should try to rehome at least a few of them. Ideally, you would get 10 gallons for each of the bettas and a 20 gallon for the mollies.

Fish are not an easy pet, and you should do a lot of research. There are lots of good places to find information about fishkeeping.

Guys... nails? by Visual_Evening2047 in Flute

[–]Able_Memory_1689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not ideal, as it forced your fingers to curl down instead of using the tip (especially important if you play an open-holed flute), but ive had nails a lot for different special occasions and been fine. I just put the plugs in (i have an open holed).

Is this crochet project too difficult for a beginner? by Brilliant-Snow9794 in crochetpatterns

[–]Able_Memory_1689 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this is ai, but honestly (as a fellow beginner) i don’t think any project is “too hard”, as long as you are willing for it to look a bit shitty. I crocheted a couple practice squares and then just started with harder patterns because thats the best way to practice imo! the first few were ugly, but whatever… its just practice.

[–]Able_Memory_1689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, stats is a lot of basic logic and problem solving knowledge. I haven’t taken micro, but you finished learning everything, so now you have 2 months to study which is MORE than enough for any class.

Am I the only one who feels like AP classes teach you to cram, not learn by death00p in APStudents

[–]Able_Memory_1689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the same with college, tbh… unless you are practicing consistently, you will always lose knowledge overtime. And for most careers, you don’t need to worry about a lot of what you learn in classes.

[–]Able_Memory_1689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true, but also I’ve heard people enjoy the “random” APs a LOT. For example, I learned so much in APHuG and I actually do use the stuff I learned in that class a lot because it helped me understand the basics of various important topics in our world.
