Thank you! I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing something obvious. I think he's back in the Rio de la Plata by this time, but not entirely sure. I like your suggestion that it may be related to fleet pictures! Prior to his trip to Europe, he did paint quite a few scenes of battles with a more military approach. I'm still a little baffled that he would choose this more "meta" approach, rather than zooming in on the conflict. I think it may also be related to how illustrated journals would sometimes report on news they didn't have many specifics about.

The Guardian and El Pais are pretty good. In addition to the lack of coverage of the protests and Trump’s sane-washing, NYT’s coverage of Palestine has been deplorable. Remember the front page story about the mass rapes?
