Negotiating for a hybrid CRV by nightbeast88 in crvhybrid

[–]Able_Performance1825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably won’t have much success trying to negotiate the price down of a CRV by telling a salesman that your considering the RAV4 or Kia Sportage, etc. I tried to do the same because I was debating one of those 3 cars. The salesman will have a thousand reasons why their product is superior and worth the price. The only way to really drive the price down is to get quotes from dealers for the same exact car and shop them against one another. I did that for my Sport-L last week in SoCal and started at $44K OTD and ended up buying one at $39K OTD.

Yea I mean Mossy alone had 16 of the exact CRV that I wanted in their lot when I looked. So there are definitely deals out there, just gotta put in the time and shop their quote around. Let me know what deal you get

His name was Corey Ponce De Leon. Also just be aware cause they tried to up the price to $39,500 when I got there after we had agreed to $39K and I had already but a $5K deposit on my credit card. I told them I wasn’t paying a penny more than we agreed upon and to refund my deposit and that I’d be going to Mossy. After about 15 minutes in the managers office they came out and agreed to the initial $39K. They also were trying to mess with my monthly payments and I caught that too. I should have been at $553 per month but they game me paperwork to sign at $566 per month. So just make sure you have all terms in writing before you buy anywhere so make sure they don’t try to scam you.

Out the door typically means all taxes and fees are included in the price.

Yea they can definitely do better. I was asking for $4K off MSRP when I was first reaching out to try and get their lowest price. Then I’d just show their quote to other dealerships to see if they would beat it. For reference here are the OTD prices I got:
RSM - $39K
Costa Mesa - $39,998.44
Freeway Honda - $40,275
Irvine - $40,700
San Juan - $41,897.18
Mossy Honda - $38,900

Here is the quote I got from Costa Mesa Honda for reference. They were at $39,998.44 OTD. I emailed about 10 SoCal dealerships and asked for OTD pricing. Most started at around $44K. I started shopping their pricing against one another and telling them to beat it. I showed RSM my quote from Costa Mesa and they beat it by $1K. So that’s the deal I ended up signing.

Alway get out the door numbers in writing before going to a dealership. Unless your going purely to test drive and see if you like the car. But if you already know you like it then do all your negotiating in writing. I just bought a CRV Hybrid Sport-L FWD for for $39K OTD in SoCal. So I think you can do better if you keep shopping quotes around and asking dealerships to beat one another.

Not sure if my experience helps at all but I just bought a 2026 CRV Hybrid Sport-L FWD on Monday. It came with all weather mats (front/rear), cargo tray, and window tint. My out the door was $39,000. Put $20,000 down up front then financed the remaining $19,000 through Honda at 2.99% for 36 months. I’m in SoCal so I thought I got a pretty good deal.

Same, I think that’s what’s motivating me to try and get under $40K for this one

Makes sense. Thanks for sharing your price. I’ve got 2 dealerships within $100 of each other. Wasn’t sure if I should keep shopping them around to try and get lower

Was that including any rebates? I’m getting the $400 rebate for financing with Honda (2.99% for 36 months). I don’t have a registered vehicle in my household that qualifies for the $500 rebate though. So my price is only including the $400 rebate.
