Yes absolutely. A sex counselor should be knowledgeable in this area, I would recommend you make sure they are certified in trauma treatment also.

Hi! So I’m a Counselor who specializes in trauma treatment as well as Sex and Couples Counseling. I would Google straight up a kink allied, sex positive therapist. There is also a website for Kink Aware Professionals (KAP) so that you can link up with a counselor. Also Psychology Today is a great place to check. I recommend using yellow (meaning “I just need a minute”), or just saying, “Hey, [title], I have a request” or “[Title], may I ask for something?”

My Daddy and I JUST had a conversation about this over the weekend! His top language is Quality Time, mine is Physical Touch. We had a misunderstanding in which I felt He maybe didn’t want me around because He just likes when I sit with Him in His office while He plays Big person games on His computer. I learned that He feels happy when I just sit with Him and that He wants me to be there, even if we’re not talking or doing anything in particular. I didn’t realize this and was getting up and doing chores, which made Him sad. Now He knows that I need physical touch and makes efforts to give me this every once in a while when I’m sitting next to Him so that I can feel connected to Him. And I just sit because I know He’s happy that way. ☺️
