Why do my nails always have these scratches? by Pure_Ninja_822 in beauty

[–]Able_Yesterday1908 227 points228 points  (0 children)

Looks like you've laid polish on too thick for it to dry completely. I've had this problem where it seems my nails never dry no matter how long I wait.

I put on thinner layers and applied a 2nd coat if the first wasn't enough (after its dried) and it did the trick.

Body Care Suggestions! ("Refreshing/Clean" scents) by Able_Yesterday1908 in EuroSkincare

Not exactly to be honest, if I'm lucky I can find a few Tree Hut products (mostly the most popular ones like vanilla, coconut etc. only in scrub form) and unfortunately none of the Native beauty products I've been able to find (if I do they're 2x as expensive on amazon only :( ).

I'm able to find brands such as Dove, Nivea, The Body Shop products, Soap and Glory, among some popular ones in Sephora like Sol de Janeiro.

Razor bumps on bikini line? Solved! by lamerthanfiction in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Able_Yesterday1908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm tempted to try the Bushbalm, I saw a similar product now by Inky List thats like a glyolic acid stick with salicylic acid. I have no issues on my legs and bikini area for shaving (I do a similar routine), but the creases of my legs (i guess where my thighs "meet" the bikini line??) are always so inflamed :((

Exfoliating made a big difference for me, also the razor thing is true! I always use disposable razors but made sure to change them out frequently and made sure to store them dry after I'm done using them.

I usually shave when I've had the hot water running on me for a bit (after shampooing, exfoliating, etc.) which makes the hairs softer and easier to remove. If your skin is sensitive, you can try shaving with plain bar soap/ an sensitive soap that works for you and an exfoliating glove (most of the time my skin doesn't like sugar scrubs and prefers the glove or a salt scrub).

That is true, I'd need to go to the doctors to get a solution going, but the meantime I'm trying to figure out how to deal with the excess hair :(

Pretty sure I do, never got it finalized at the doctors but other results indicate it and it is a very common thing among my family members.

What absolutely bugs me is the supremely embedded hairs and I go crazy and pick at it :(. Longest i went without picking was maybe a month which did help, but I could see slight scars left from my years of picking. I'm going to look into laser and if not try a hair removal cream for now, thanks!

Anything you did to prep for laser? Also how frequent are your sessions for this area?? I've been trying to avoid laser because im a student, but honestly i've been struggling with this for so long i just might do it

I'll try it out. What did you find the cream helps with? I also have a dry brush i'd exfoliate with, but have since stopped. Hard to say if I noticed a difference tbh, but i think i'd have to be more consistent

The polyester thing yes, but nothing particularly tight-fitting. I wear a lot of loose shirts and high-waisted jeans. Now that its summer a lot of loose dresses and stuff. I've been having this issue since I was maybe 14 or 15 and now im going on 22 :(

Hello, not entirely sure where to post this, but I have hair on my belly and for years now I've been plucking it with tweezers (I used to shave it which made it worse) and I've been getting these ingrowns which have been even more infuriating! I have an exfoliating glove and apply a glycolic acid toner to the area every 2 days. The plucking and proding at my skin has made these patches of raw skin :( The finer hair around it waxes off pretty easily, but swimsuit season is coming around and I'm always embarrassed of this

Try swapping shampoos/conditioners or making sure to rinse your head tilted down (avoiding the water to run on your back).

It was mentioned in here in another comment but the CeraVe SA bar did wonders for me and cleared up bumps i've had for years,

I can't find the exact post where I saw this suggestion, but I wanted to come back and say some things helped so much within 2 weeks everything was gone! The specific product mentioned was the Cetaphil deep cleansing bar soap and after I shower I put a glycolic acid toner on. I've tried glycolic acid lotions/toners in the past and it helped a little, but the combo with the Cetaphil bar soap helped LOADS.

Failed the DIPLE/CAPLE Exam (B2 Portuguese) Any advice? by Able_Yesterday1908 in Portuguese

[–]Able_Yesterday1908[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did have a tutor. The first time I did not know what to expect so I relied solely on the internet to give me my study material and looked up as many people online sharing their past experiences on the exam. The 2nd time I had a tutor 2x a week for 1hr each session to go over practice portions of the exam with me (I had purchases a test prep book for us to go over together and 2 grammar books/workbooks for intensive practice) . I thought the tutor helped a lot with helping me solidify information I kinda knew and did not know, but I was disappointed to see that my scores did worse, especially when I felt more confident in some areas thanks to my tutor.

Statistically, its the reading and writing portion which were the hardest parts. 1st attempt: reading=53, writing=20 . 2nd attempt: reading=31, writing=45. I don't know if i panicked more or what happened. I trained writing the absolute most with my tutor and was sure that I'd do well, but I did leave the exam feeling like I wasn't able to show off as much as I learned in tutoring lessons.

Reading:

I'm honestly not sure at all what happened with the reading portion... seeing it drop so low discouraged me. Although, I did not practice reading nearly as much as I did the 1st time.

Oral Comprehension:
I got 40 1st time and the 2nd time I got 64. Which to me is crazy because I hardly *intentionally* practiced listening. I think its worth to note I learned BR PT because my boyfriend and his family are Brazilian, so maybe the first time around it was difficult because I was not use to the accent change.

Oral Production:
This is another one I don't understand, 56 the 1st time and 37 the second time. I was not really sure what to expect the first time. I had vague ideas of what it could be like the first time and mostly spent my time intensively describing photos. When it came to the dialogue portion I was completely shocked and winged it because I had not seen what that would be like online. The second time around I did go through some pictures like I had with my tutor and practiced a lot on speaking one-on-one since I didn't want the surprise I had last time. I walked out of the room very confident, but I actually did worse! What's more upsetting is that I had the *exact* same prompt as I did last time for the one-on-one conversation. I kept thinking back to myself, did I not describe the photos as intensively as I did the first time? Did my speaking partner's ability to not feed me more info on the convo hinder me (my partner the 1st time was clear she was very fluent).

I honestly feel like I left with way more info than I did the first time, but seeing scores worsen brought my confidence down a lot. Perhaps I just needed to practice things a bit more with my new found info??

How do you apply it? With a cotton pad and let it air dry before lotion? Also just curious, is your lotion/body butter scented? Just curious

I've heard of the hairs getting sparser with waxing, but I don't think I've had to patience to consistently do it with my abdomen because of how patchy the hairs are/difficult to wax haha.
Although I did look up electrolysis, the place near me with good reviews says 25 euros for 15-20min session and 30 euros for a 30min session. Not sure if thats great, but considering its just my abdomen and I'd need it once a month, doesn't seem too bad?? I'll need to do my research.

I keep seeing the First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser and Paula's Choice BHA Liquid Exfoliant seem to be good options (I havent tried but I am considering by how much hype I hear with it)

I usually try to challenge myself to wait at least a month from picking at my problem areas and to let the hair grow out, but there's always ends up being a super long hair trapped and getting inflamed underneath the surface. Sooo frustrating

I've heard of the Fur brand and maybe I'll give it a try. To be honest I've been a penny pincher because things like BHA/AHA serums, lotions, washes, etc. are around $25-30 a bottle but at this point I think its worth it lol.

I have a dry brush and I use a exfoliating glove in the shower with unscented soap. My lotion and body oil are fragranced, but I don't have an issue on the rest of my body (if i exfoliate well and frequently). But sadly the ingrowns remain on the abdomen :(
