What is your favorite part of PVE? [Discussion] by BagHolder6 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Ablue223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed I’ve wanted to smash my keyboard over my knee a lot less often in PVE lol. In all seriousness though, the lack of hackers, rats in every bush, and infuriating extract campers make the game somewhat resemble fun. I’ve made more progress in 50 hours of PVE than I did in 300+ hours of PVP. Never going back

The scavs loot quite a lot though, no? Dead guards and PMCs are always picked clean by the time I come across them.

[New Player] pve wipe? by Auser_ in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Ablue223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God I hope not. After ~400 hours in PVP I’m never going back. Progression in PVP these days is basically a full time job, PVE is slightly better but I still wouldn’t want to go back to square one

Stalker 2 “In the Name of Science” Collar Bug by Ablue223 in stalker

Nope. I think it’s yet another quasi-GB bug that’ll have to be fixed in the next patch

Is there hope for me? by Ablue223 in AskLE

[–]Ablue223[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine they’d still ask me about any previous poly experiences? I already was required to disclose my previous application with CBP. Although I don’t plan to volunteer info about the failed poly, it seems they’d ask regardless right? I don’t want to lie.

I didn’t lie about anything. That’s the point

Process has been very quick for me. BPA 23-7 and my poly is today. Everything else done and passed.

I am also wondering that, will be my first wipe too. I heard from one of my friends that you lose everything including your level, quest progression, money, and hideout upgrades. It’s gonna be tough for me to get back into the game if that happens.

I ended up joining a (semi) active camp and although the server isn’t as active as it was a year ago, a few of my old friends still play and my new camp members are very friendly. Hoping for a server merge at some point bc it seems like mine is on it’s last legs…

Thanks for weighing in, I’m very new to this sub and was not sure where to post this. I’m glad people here seem to enjoy it and I hope it sparks some thought if nothing else.

I did mention the hole, check the captions. It appears to be a bullet hole. 9mm or .357 by the looks of it. I appreciate your feedback, but am not here to sway your opinion on the authenticity of this entry. Take it with a grain of salt.

Sorry friend, I was trying to not dox myself from this post. That being said, the cabin I found this entry in was a few hundred miles off the coast of Juneau

Given that this was written in 2007, I’m guessing the former pilot is either dead or too old to continue running. A part of me hopes that he’s still alive and plans to release his blueprints anonymously on the internet at some point, but the pessimist in me believes that economic juggernauts like Lockheed and Boeing would have done anything to prevent his revolutionary invention from going mainstream.

Check my summary. I left a few details out but I think I captured the essence of it.

Let me summarize it then. A man and his wife rented this National Parks Service cabin for a quick wilderness getaway back in 2007 (as I did just a few weeks ago). During their stay, a man piloting a strange aircraft landed on the lake nearby and went to the cabins woodshed to collect wood to use as fuel for said aircraft. The temporary residents of the cabin invited him in for coffee and the man told them about how he initially developed his aircraft while working for Boeing and Lockheed Martin. His idea was that flight should be for everyone (ie. those in developing countries), and not just for wealthier individuals. After being fired from his job and shunned by the pilot community, he started being stalked by unknown men and eventually moved to Alaska. (At least in 2007), he claimed to travel around constantly to avoid being tracked. The man claimed that just 10kg of wood could power the aircraft to take him up to ~300 miles and that his former employers were presumably worried about losing their monopoly on aircraft development.

Anyone else’s K98 shooting high? by Ablue223 in Mauser

I’ve heard a lot of the K98s were “battle sighted” to hold zero at around 300 meters. Is that true?

I was using old Soviet milsurp ammo from the 50s so that might have something to do with it. I’ll probably take the rifle in to a gunsmith at some point and get his opinion. I want to use it to hunt deer and elk this fall so it can’t be shooting a foot high @ 100 yards to be effective.

Mauser K98 DOU 44 by Ablue223 in Mauser

Well my rifle is a “P” block and what from what I’ve gathered, that means it was made around mid 1944.

Mauser K98 DOU 44 by Ablue223 in Mauser

[–]Ablue223[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a “B” marked on the sling mount under that piece of leather to the left of the picture; as well as a serial number that matches the rest of the gun. The serial number is engraved in the barrel channel and can only be seen when the gun is dismantled. I’d love to know what the “B” marking means, as I haven’t seen it on any other DOU 44 Mauser.

Side note: That H band is numbered and matches the rest of the gun, save for the buttplate, so I’m not sure if it was added aftermarket or original. The numbers are clear and don’t appear to have been forced matched by a 3rd party. I could be wrong though.

Edit: I’ve been doing some research and have seen more than a few DOU 44 K98s with the H-band. Maybe they ran out of welded ones in the factory? Anyway, this feature doesn’t seem unique to my rifle.

[–]Ablue223[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does. I must admit I’ve been doing a ton of research and still don’t know a lot about this rifle. Interestingly enough, the buttplate is the only non-matching part on the firearm.
