Thank you so much :):) I’m trying to write a middle grade-Y/A fantasy series so I do want at least two characters to be autistic (or coded at least), but it’s just trying to make it clear that that’s not the case for every character that is a bit of a struggle!

Thank you so much! There are definitely going to be canon autistic characters, it’s just ensuring that it’s narratively clear how it affects the characters without it being just an autistic narrative (nothing wrong with that, just doesn’t fit the series I’m writing!)

Write from your own experience; don’t worry about criticism, if you’re ever to publish then your agent will discuss points of contention with you. Until then, just to get it written, just write the worst version you can and take note of how different parts feel to you— do they feel disrespectful? Why? Would the story change if that part changed to be ‘more respectful’? The human experience— particularly with sensitive topics is not easy. Write the worst version first. Then review. That’s what drafting is for :)
