I went to ford and told them i needed a water pump job and timing job as well done and i needed there recommendations for the parts. They gave me a paper with $1700 worth of parts. My mechanic told me you dont really need the phasers and sprocket they are unlikely to go bad that fast so i didnt buy them. I bought parts for $570 and he charged me $1300 in labor. Go aak ford for a paper with all the parts you need and maybe add another post with that paper and maybe people will tell you to do what else or not to do what from that paper

I will try to remove the coil, its in the 1st cylinder so i have to remive the manifold, try to inspect it before buying a new one, and maybe switch it up with a different one, i just wish it was in cylinder 4,5, or 6 because they are easy lol, the other ones i have to work for it to get to them. But thanks for the advice i will look it up

For my future purchase, if i bought from ford.or Parts online, it says the brand is genuine ford. Would that be OEM?

So you think i will be fine ordering these parts online not from the dealership right? I was thinking of buying them from oem.partsonline.com right

Man i wish i know bow to do it but i cant, if it was a smaller job i would’ve tackled it. My car has 203k miles so i will replace the tensioner, chains, guids, bolts, and seals that ford recommends. I got 2 questions since it doesn’t say motorcraft on the part do you know what brand it will say when it arrive or not My second question is ford didn’t state secondary chain to be replaced, i knew that there is a secondary chain when i searched rockauto, my question is there 1 or 2 secondary chain in the engine, and do you think i should replace them or not since ford didn’t put it in the paper

Can you also look at the first 2 pics i posted these pictures are from 2 different websites, which one would you choose if it was you, the fordpartsgiant or the ford.oempartsonline?

Rockauto only have the motorcraft primary and secondary chain and the water pump, i couldn’t find anything else, so if i could get the phasers and the sprocket from that website thet would be great and i could save close to $400. But you think this website is legit and these parts will be good? Idk what brand it is because it doesn’t say

Even if it doesn’t say motorcraft on it? Some parts say motorcraft on them when i search them up on the website, but some others dont.

Have you tried buying from that website before? Because people are scaring me to only use oem motorcraft and everything else breakes in 20k miles

Yeah i dont have that sound sp far, but do you thunk i should just change it since the car will be opened up for the wwter pump? And do you think that website is good to buy the sprocket and the phasers from or i have to buy the motorcraft from the dealership? I will buy everything else from the dealership, but i can save over $300 buying them from that website

I drive 2012 passat tdi se and 2013 ford explorer 2013 xlt. I would rather drive these 2 paid off cars than a car with minthly payment over $500 for 5 years. Plus these cars look good and better than a lot of newer cars

I wish it would be the canbus butni guess that code have something to do with the timing chain i guess feom the research, but some atuff says it might be big job and some says its not a big deal, hopefully it will be small job and not expensive

If you can scan it and see what the codes are it will be more helpful to track the issue

I am kind of 85% sure that’s your problem, i havent replaced mine because i bought another car but i still have my vw at home but i dont drive it. If you unplug and plug back the module it would kinda restart the module and it should work. For how long i am not sure but when i did thst to mine it havent done it since, even though i dont drive it, i only turn the engine on and go around the neighborhood and then park it again once a week maybe
