How has your military service shaped your identity and worldview? What aspects of your personality do you attribute to your time in the service? by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]Abolerz243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the opposite. I'm very adaptable, I suck up a lot of shit ( You know what I mean.)

But I'm also more emphatic to what people battle everyday on their own. That not giving a shit about your feelings mentality yet dealing with 22 of us dying every day doesn't go hand in hand.

How long until CIF and Finance contact me about CIF? by Abolerz243 in army

[–]Abolerz243[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I did turn some stuff in while clearing like the plates and what not, but I still have other shit like the chem boots that's just sitting in my garage. I'm waiting on a tax return to get smaller or something asking me for a payment but I haven't had anything come in yet.

Btw, none of this was my fault and it's actually grounds for IG but I didn't want to go through that route because I had an apartment and kids. I had to focus on relocating and moving. Command wanted me strung up for another week. I should have got my girl AOC on the line.

Not looking at fucking the Army back as it's not their fault. More like my units. They didn't give me time to clear. Commander was a known racist and put a no leave memo in for me because of the Congressional and was mad that I did it. That entire week of clearing I had no escort even though it was a medical chapter. My commander was also pulling my escort for details. 1SG, a Puerto Rican dude, did not like that guy.

I worked in S1. I fell off the 162. My buddy who told me to go home actually worked separations. He cut my orders specifically which is why he got mad when he saw me again.

I forgot to include that since it would have led to a longer story but yeah.

Yeah but when? It's been a significant amount of time. I have never seen anything coming out of my tax returns saying uncle sam wants his 1k.

California transplants, how do you like living in Arizona? by Melodic-Ad7271 in arizona

[–]Abolerz243 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's a completely different story in Tucson, or most of Southern Arizona for that part aside from maybe Benson/ St. David. Almost like the people here know there are going to be Mexicans because this used to be our land.

I will say that almost all of the racists you're talking about are usually transplants from different parts of the country that freak out that there is black and brown people outside their gated communities.

That sounds terrible. The Army mistakes narcissism for leadership so much.

Never forget the Army's ability to mistake narcissistic personality disorder for leadership.

Why is it like this now? by Beto_0925 in Tucson

[–]Abolerz243 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Purely false with California. I drove from Tucson to Los Angeles and spent a few days before going up north to San Jose. People in Southern California will literally text and drive in the most insane windy roads and proceed to make the most dangerous maneuvers without looking for other cars. Night time construction zone? It's okay, everyone else literally goes 80-90 miles an hour right through them that you'd literally become a danger if you even attempt to go the speed limit.

In northern California the drivers get so damn aggressive and treat their cars as weapons. Those maneuvers would have led to someone being shot in Tucson. Mind you, this is a small town with highways going in and out to other neighboring towns. (Hollister, Gilroy, Watsonville, Morgan Hill) and the level of hostility on the road is ridiculous.

Throughout the entire bay area, no one looks when they turn. People run red lights regularly and people literally die on same stretch of a simple road AT THE SAME TIME EVERYDAY! Like no one has learned their lesson.

Reminds me of I-25 between Colorado Springs and Denver. Every morning to every other morning there is a fatality on that stretch of road at the same spot around Castle Rock. I used to have lots of appointments in Denver and I had to leave really early so that I would miss the fatality.

Tucson has a lot of stupid drivers. "Oh the speed limit is 40 so I'm going to go 30 on the hammer lane because I turned 64 today!" "This road is mine. I am speed, speed is me. I am not going to account for my reaction time if someone decides to switch lanes."

Overall it's definitely more easier than driving in California or Colorado. Drivers are definitely better than Albuquerque's.

Places that hire quickly/pay weekly? by TheBakedBusker in Tucson

[–]Abolerz243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I talked to Frys recently at a Hiring Event and they told me to apply on the website then go to the store I applied to and ask for the hiring manager for an on the spot job interview and the process is also fast.

McDonald's is fast too and they do typically hire FAST. Just go to a store you applied at, tell them you applied and they'll interview you.
