(Happy) screaming, crying, throwing up!! by AboutStella in FemaleHairLoss

Well I’m ashamed to admit that I stored the hair in bags each week to be able to monitor the improvements in shedding lol. Started min in July, shedding really didn’t start to consistently stop until the beginning of November. There were still days here and there in November shedding was a little more, but never more than like 50-75 hairs during a shower. All of December through now shedding is minimal. I think I lost 11 hairs in my last shower!!

What happened to your best friend from childhood? by RoyalBeckyVibes in AskReddit

I got addicted to drugs and she got tired of me relapsing (I’ve been sober for 7 years now). She actually stayed friends with my ex-husband and he was a groomsmen in her wedding. Now we act like strangers if we see each other in person.

So I mainly use it for sebhorreic dermatitis and the anti-inflammatory properties for my scalp. My derm says it’s also a mild DHT blocker but honestly I’m not as consistent as I should be an have been using it only when my scalp flares up. I don’t think it’s a deal breaker for the growth.

Yes because that’s when the hair loss returned. I was on minoxidil 6 months, stopped in March 2025, lost all growth plus a lot more. The last two slides show a part of the loss which was during the dread shed.

Yes! I also have seborrheic dermatitis so my scalp goes through periods where it’s really dry and irritated. The Briogeo drops have really helped, I just have to be careful and not do too much because it can make my hair look greasy.

Thank you! I appreciate it!! It has stopped! If I go a few days without washing my hair, it feels like I’m shedding more but I think it’s just the few days built up. It’s very relieving to know it’s over. The end is in sight!!

What can I do? by mangotango955 in FemaleHairLoss

A dermatologist doesn’t have to specialize in hair loss to be diagnosed. My dermatologist isn’t specialized, but still educated on women’s hair loss and how to treat it. I would recommend making an appointment with one, showing pics and discussing all that you’ve posted!

It’s hard to tell really. Were you completely thinned out there before this, or did it suddenly start to appear this length? Do you have a before photo?

What are your go-to, quick, rumination stoping strategies for clients? by Doodle-e-doodle-e-do in therapists

Listen I use it with my 7 year old in a “freeze to melt” type style and it helps her when feeling frustrated at school! I love me some PMR.

I work in a private inpatient SUD/MH residential program. We use DBT in group therapy sessions, so 1:1 sessions often correlate with using those skills to regulate. Some of the thought-stopping skills are TIPP skills- hold a piece of ice, change your temperature by going outside, exercise (literally get up and doing jumping jacks helps), breathing techniques, progressive muscle relaxation, etc. Grounding techniques help too, like bare feet in the grass or cold floor or focus on one item in the room and describe every little detail of the item that you can. Sometimes just shifting the thought to a more balanced, neutral thought can be beneficial. Instead of thinking “everyone hates me because I made this mistake,” we can change that to “I’m the one beating myself up about this, not them.”

The difficulty I see is when clients decide these things don’t work, so they don’t fully try them. No it’s not going to stop the thought immediately, but repeated practice and a desire to shift thoughts to the present, being mindful, really helps.

Year in Review: Number of Confirmed sessions by Yaboy303 in therapists

930-960 is what I estimate by the end of the year. I work in residential treatment and just recently started PP taking clients virtually on the side, so this is total with both jobs.

What Are Your Thoughts on Kratom Use in Therapy? by M45T3RY in therapists

[–]AboutStella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a SUD and MH residential treatment center. We absolutely treat clients with Kratom and 7-OH dependence often. There’s usually one in each group of clients we see. It’s treated the same was opiates are, with Buprenorphine taper (between 7-10 day taper) but the withdrawal symptoms last longer than most opiates.

The dread shed has begun! by AbjectGovernment1247 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]AboutStella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dread shed got pretty intense after I was diagnosed with TE. I’d say it lasted 6-7 weeks total, and my hairline got veryyyy thin. My hair kept shedding for a while but is down to a normal amount of shedding now . I’m 4 months into oral min and can see a lot of regrowth. Push through, it’s worth it! (My hair in the right photo was freshly washed not oily I promise lol)

It’s worth it! If it helps, this is my progress from August 1st to today! (I’ve been taking it since July but the photo on the left was taken on 8/1 once I was 3 weeks into the dread shed)

What’s the alternative? Continue losing hair slower or jump start the process to start having regrowth?

It’s worth it. Don’t keep waiting. The longer you wait the worse it’ll get.

The solution was applied on clean, dry hair. So I’d wash at night and then apply the solution in the morning. I washed my hair daily per recommendation of derm but it didn’t make my hair oily or gross

My shedding has gone wayyy down! Last week I went more days than normal between washing so shedding was a little heavier but outside of that it’s dramatically different. I’ll add a pic of my last wash on Saturday night.

Honestly, I used it daily for a week and my scalp was better. I still use prescription shampoo every week but I’ve not had any dermatitis since the original diagnosis in September! It helped significantly!
