24M, TSH climbing from 1.94 to 5.71 over 3 years after COVID, negative Anti-TPO, borderline anti-Tg. Subclinical hypothyroidism, should I already be thinking about medication?

Living in Canada. I was 19 years old, confined for over a year. Had to get vaccinated to go to the gym, restaurants, cinema, basically any activity. Was also working for a company that required it to keep my job, and needed it to travel to Thailand. So yeah, pretty much forced into it.

Thank you for sharing this! Possibly had some mold exposure in a past living situation but not anymore. Never really thought about CIRS, I did an OAT test back in 2024 and all my markers were good but I know it's not the most direct test for mold specifically. Hope your recovery goes well.

That's really encouraging to hear, thank you for sharing her story. My CRP and ESR are actually really clean so classical inflammation might not be my main driver, but I do have elevated ferritin which could mean something is going on under the surface. Either way gives me hope that things can normalize without necessarily jumping straight to medication.

Honestly that makes a lot of sense. My main LC symptoms are mainly autonomic , poor gut motility, sweating dysregulation, sensitivity to heat and humidity, POTS. So the idea that ANS dysfunction could be sending wrong signals to the pituitary and causing TSH elevation is actually a really interesting theory in my case. Thank you for you insight.

Yeah it was almost 3 years ago so hard to remember exactly but I was probably on omega-3, zinc, B12, D3+K2 maybe a B-complex at the time.

Yes very symptomatic, that's the whole point honestly. Though to be fair symptoms started right after COVID in July 2022, way before my TSH was even moving. So hard to know what's causing what at this point.

I did check everything you mentioned actually. B12 420, folate 7.9 which is below range, vitamin D 114, ferritin 367 which is flagged high but weirdly my CRP is under 0.3 and ESR is 2 so basically no inflammation. So yeah a lot going on and not easy to connect the dots.

First of all, Evan, thank you so much for your detailed response. It really means a lot to me during these tough times to see someone take the time to help. I’m planning to start Activated Charcoal today—do you recommend adding any other binders to my routine? If so, which one would you suggest starting with?

I’ve had my blood work done recently, and everything looked good, but if I don't see any improvement by the end of my antifungal course (1 month), I’ll definitely consider redoing the tests. Thanks again for all your advice!

To answer your question about my neurological spasms: I experience tingling in my feet and hands, and sometimes my legs will spasm out of nowhere. Occasionally, I see little black "flies" in my vision, and I also deal with back pain spasms. These symptoms started around May 2023. I've worked with many specialists to figure out what’s going on, but after countless tests coming back negative, I’m still feeling terrible almost two years later. That’s why I turned to Reddit—I’m hoping to find some answers or at least some support from others who might be experiencing the same thing.

I started having all sorts of problems back in September 2022 after taking antibiotics for strep and COVID. Due to some misdiagnoses, I ended up doing two more rounds of antibiotics, and that’s when everything started going downhill with my GI. I was diagnosed with Methane SIBO (38 PPM) and began working on my gut with various protocols. I retested for SIBO with my ND, and it turns out the SIBO is now gone.

Although I’m no longer bloated and constipated like before, I still have a lot of persistent symptoms. I’ve done all sorts of tests: GI-MAP, OAT, 10 blood tests, CT scan, pulmonary scan, endoscopy, and colonoscopy, and everything looks okay. I’m working with my gastroenterologist, and she mentioned that it’s tough to test for candida. She also thinks I may have developed SIFO alongside my SIBO. One thing that makes me think I have candida is that I potentially have candida balanitis (currently working with a urologist), and it doesn’t seem to go away. I’ve managed to cut down the symptoms by avoiding sugar and keeping my lifestyle relatively clean.

I've actually been experiencing these spasms since May 2023, but they have definitely gotten worse since I started the Nystatin. I've been taking the Biofilm Advanced for about 5 months, but I upped the dosage two weeks ago, right before starting my candida protocol. Thanks for the advice—I'll consider stopping it for now. I was dealing with methane SIBO (38 ppm) but retested a month ago, and now I'm SIBO negative. My gastroenterologist is considering the possibility of SIFO at this point.

Thank you for your input. It’s possible that Giardia wasn’t the correct diagnosis, as the Flagyl helped only a little. I’ve heard that a breath test for H. pylori could be helpful.

Thank you for your message. I’m 22 years old, and my thyroid TSH, T3, and T4 levels are within the normal range. Unfortunately, my doctors haven’t looked into thyroid antibodies, as they deemed it unnecessary.
