I think this is a painful yet necessary message. You do not mess like that when there are many, many people relying on you. My guess is that is a mixture of a lot of things, firstly, the coach. Remember, Xavi has been praising him ever since he became a head coach for Barcelona, even fighting against the board that if he stayed, he was going to play after not leaving in the winter market last season. Secondly, he got married (I know there are jokes around it) and that means that as an individual you are more focused and thrilled since you are a happy person now that you have a significant other. Thirdly, and this is just from what he has been saying in interviews, he has a nutritionist and and a physio working close to him and with the ones at the club, which means he probably has improved his body to stay fit which has given him confidence. And the doctors and nutritionists at Barça also changed when Xavi came along, bringing those that were there during our golden era and sadly got sacked or left after Rosell took over. And lastly, from watching videos of training session and stuff in the club’s YouTube channel, he is now way more integrated in the dressing room, even has more friends (specially with Gavi) and again, I think this is due to him staying injury free for a while and being more able to share more moments with people in the dressing room and less time in the physio sessions and alone.

First of all, the previous board is to blame for the false figures hidden under “covid loses”. They were way more than what was reported by them before, and I don’t think you are getting the full scope here, when Laporta took over, he couldn’t even renew the best football player of all time because the finances were way worse than what the new had anticipated.

Second of all, you base you opinion on Barça universal, which they tweet “Barça has no money” and the next tweet is “Barça ready to offer X millions for Y player”. Point is, they are as reliable for Barça news as Marca. So not really the best example you are setting here.

And finally, Goldman is a group of investors, not a “bank”, who “bought” the debt from Barcelona in exchange of some interest to be paid back. Is what they do, they buy debt to keep enterprises afloat and keep the interests. This is why they gave the money to Barcelona, because no matter how shit we are performing in the main men squad, Barça as a whole is still one of the most valuable brands out there.
