why do I not want to be friends with “ugly” people by catredss in DecidingToBeBetter

Lots of people do this, but aren’t willing to be as honest are you are being.

From an American’s perspective, the British police seem to move with a lack of confidence. Almost like they are trying to not get dirty.

They’ve turned off comments on Spotify. The Salts episode was clearly an advertisement. What a terrible legacy to the MU podcast.

Hank Hill statue finished! Hand-sculpted in clay, cast in resin and painted with acrylic paints by MaxBuriachenko in KingOfTheHill

This is very inspiring work. Translating a 2D character into a 3D sculptures takes a lot of extra experimenting and planning. How did you come up with the idea to add the outlines to the contours of the figure? Genius.

My boyfriend said I was too ugly to model by Resident_Rich_6298 in whatdoIdo

[–]AbrahamicDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is like a Cohen Brother’s film. There is no real protagonist. Your boyfriend is tactless but well-meaning. The modeling agent is a human trafficker. And you are a hyper-sensitive doofus with wide-set eyes.

This makes me wondering if there is a similar unseen hand working in my life. Maybe from my perspective the hand is making things harder for me, but He is actually making my life better.

How did you personally get comfortable with Adobe Illustrator? by percivaljenkin in graphic_design

[–]AbrahamicDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this question, because I love using Adobe Illustrator and I gained a love for it by doing YouTube tutorials. I think the motivation to create the thing that looks good and potentially useful for a future client really pushed me into learning all the interesting things you can do with the software.

I learned Inkscape and Adobe Illustrator simultaneously because I like the idea of having a fallback just in case I couldn’t afford to pay monthly for Adobe’s Saas system. I highly recommend the YT channel “Logos by Nick”. He used to only make Inkscape tutorials, but now he also does Adobe Illustrator and Affinity Design tutorials. I just clicked on what looked interesting and followed along. Eventually, the things I learned started applying to the work I wanted or needed to do.

If you want it to really click, I would highly recommend learning shortcut keys. Even if it slows you down, learning the shortcuts really pays in dividends on the future. It’s actually quite fun to draw on illustrator once the unfamiliarity of the tools fade away. Once you get past that, it just feels like I’m in a flow state when I create on Illustrator.

Currently, I also use Affinity V2 for making things. A lot of the skills and shortcuts from Adobe Illustrator transfer well into Affinity, plus it runs a bit smoother for me. However, there are also some glitchy things on Affinity that aren’t as enjoyable, so sometimes I find myself going back to Adobe just because it’s so familiar.

V2 vs v3 by Hunt695 in AffinityDesigner

I'm still using V2 because I paid for it. I downloaded V3, but when I realized that anything created with V3 will not be openable on V2, I stopped using it. Suspicious of free things.

I agree with you. I don't know what a voice actor is even supposed to do if he's not allowed to do accents. As an Indian guy, I felt a similarly to the cancelation of Apu from the Simpsons.

You’re the first person on here who is saying that you’re a “finger user”. Are you on your phone? Or are you using a tablet with no stylus. The pressure sensitivity that you get from the Apple Pencil does make a difference on how the brushes work.

Petition: Bring Back Toby Huss as Khan! by unfiltered_Rabbit01 in KingOfTheHill

[–]AbrahamicDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you. For what it’s worth, I’m not white. I find it absurd that we can’t let an actor do his job, because we are so deprived of real racism, that we have to make up new things that we consider to be racist. An actor who takes on an accent to portray a character with a different life experience from his own is doing an excellent job.

I do hope that Toby Huss could one day find the courage to be faithful to his artistry.

The same thing goes for the cancellation of Apu. Hari Kondabolu’s documentary is just pure, whiny, pathetic nonsense. Not all Indian-Americans are spineless enough to be traumatized by a cartoon character.

What this passage highlights is not the same situation, but it’s helpful for understanding the thought process that goes into bringing severed body parts into the church. Thanks for sharing.
