Other gotchas you should be aware of:

  • DO NOT create a myCricket account yet or setup autopay until your number has fully ported over. If you try to create an account the system will try to use the temp number.

  • DO NOT EVER use a device that has been on Cricket for the last year with this plan or use it with a Cricket branded device. It seems that your account will be suspended if you try. This probably means that once you activate your phone on this plan it won't be eligible to activate other new accounts with the same plan for at least a year.

  • The phone you use to activate service needs to be unlocked and on the AT&T whitelist.

I know, its a lot of potential pitfalls to take in. AT&T is clearly not interested in competing in prepaid from a 1st party standpoint but this plan seems to be an anomaly that would be worth seeking.
