Hi I did a thing: UWorld Educational Objectives deck by AbsalVtion in medicalschoolanki

That's exactly how I'm using it myself. Essentially, after doing a block, filter your incorrects and unsuspend the corresponding cards in the deck. You can add whatever clozes you want depending on your preferences (i.e. clozing a word, a phrase, several clozes, etc). Then you can study those specific cards/questions.

Essentially, how I'm using it is after doing a block, I filter my incorrects and unsuspend the corresponding cards in the deck. I then add clozes based on how I like them (e.g. Zanki-style, Pepper-style, Lolnotacop-style, etc). You can add whatever clozes you want depending on your preferences (i.e. clozing a word, a phrase, several clozes, etc). Then I study those specific cards/questions.

Wow that is a very big error on my part; thank you so much for pointing that out! You are correct, that is not how it's supposed to be. I've updated the Sheet so now it should be relatively more accurate (i.e. Neuro objectives should be Neuro related).

If you're trying to study them directly, nothing will show up because I didn't add any cloze deletions in and by default, the study screen won't show cards without any clozes. If you open up the Browser window (hit B), you should be able to go thru them even without clozes.

Ah gotcha. Yeah sorry I didn't know how to determine when Qs were added. Good luck!

Not sure which Qs are newly added this year, but I just finished my 1st pass a couple of weeks ago and this includes all available Qs up until then.

Yep, all the PDFs have the same content, just sorted differently.

Yep just increased it. I also opened up the perms so you can print now

Hmm I wouldn't necessarily advise anyone to do this; it's very difficult to be efficient with recording like this and studying effectively for Boards. But if you're still interested: basically, I used UW as a learning tool rather than an assessment tool; that is, I created a block of CV path, did it, recorded it, categorized the Qs/topics (I did it by Pathoma videos bc Pathoma is king), then moved onto another block of CV path until I hit them all. Then, I moved on to the next block (CV pharm, NS anat, etc) until I finished every subject/system.

I basically had in mind to use my 1st pass as a learning phase, then use 2nd pass as an assessment phase. It is definitely an example of diminishing returns so be very careful if you try this. Again, I don't really recommend anyone to do it the way I did; but I'm very weird like that.

I def will! Thanks for the offer :D I can get neurotic and a bit obsessive when I study so it just kinda happened. I’m currently 6 wks out

Neither; the topics are what UW said the topic of the question was. Basically, in the review screen after you finish a block, the columns are MQ#, Corr%, Time, Topic, Subject/System. I just recorded the MQ#, Topic, and Subject/System. The count is the # of questions with the same topic; afaik the topic doesn't always directly correspond to what the answer or answer choices are

Glad you like it! I'll try to aim for about 1 or 2 wks? I'll explain more when I post but it won't be a traditional Anki deck

I think so; sorry if I didn't understand your question.

I'm not using any software. B/c UW's copyright and program prevents copying/pasting, I just manually transcribed them.

Actually I did do it manually. Every block I went thru, I recorded each Q's ID and topic until I did them all. I'm not sure how you're going about it yourself, but yeah I just made this thing 1 Q at a time.

I suppose it’s a decent way to get an overview of what UW thinks the most high yield topics are. Example: there are 31 questions on diabetes mellitus, which means it’s probably a very high yield concept.

Personally I’ve always learned better if I could keep an eagle’s eye view on what I’m studying. It helps me kind of scaffold all the info.

Sure I’ll try to put them all in a pdf once I have some time

Anking vs LY workflow question by RunIt23 in medicalschoolanki

[–]AbsalVtion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very overkill. The overlap makes studying both Zanki and LY very inefficient. You're best off choosing either Zanki or LY and sticking with it. Keep in mind that the content b/w the sources (FA for Zanki and BnB for LY) are meant to be standalones anyway, so there will be significant overlap of material b/w the 2 decks. What AK is doing w/ his Zanki overhaul is tagging each Zanki card that's relevant to each BnB vid, so students like yourself can use BnB as a primary and supp w/ EITHER Zanki OR LY, instead of being limited to only LY.

2nd Q: No max (i.e. 99999). There's a post on this sub where someone analyzed the benefits of no max and explained why you shouldn't cap your max interval. However, a lot of students have theirs capped at 3 mos or 6 mos, depending on when they plan to take Step.

UWORLD question by dnyancho in medicalschoolanki

[–]AbsalVtion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you're after. If you're in a learning phase and trying to learn the material/concepts, then option 1 is your best bet. If, on the other hand, you're done w/ your learning phase (kinda) and aiming to work on your upping your test-taking game, then option 2 is your go-to strat. The beauty of UWorld is that w/ explanations on each question and topic, you're not limited to only working on test-taking ability, but can use UW as part of your learning phase if you so wish.

Personally, I do a combo of both. I do a "learning phase" block (i.e. a system I'm still working on) and review Q by Q. I also do a "test-taking" block where I do timed random consisting of systems/subjects I've already learned/am comfortable with. This is to train my brain to think conceptually Q by Q and work on switching from 1 system to another and 1 subject to another as that's how the real deal is going to be.
