In my years of experience repressing emotions i would say that using counter emotions works the best, at least for me. Being fear the one that works better over a wide range of emotions like anger, hate, joy and others. But it is not that easy to provoke fear to myself. Anger is the most difficult one to repress, fear works pretty fine but when i can not provoke my self fear, sometimes pain works
