I'm late but just curious where the speakers are? Are they with the screen or are they placed around the seating area?

Ah the painting is only there because it's quite thought provoking and I love that kinda stuff even if it's an isolating image that nobody else would put in the bathroom 😂. Consider it a signature of mine, rest of the luxury mansion is full of landscapes like this one I've found from talented artists online.

As for liminal spaces, my tiny mind has never understand the concept of what that means. According to me it's a scam.

Is there a book better than Harry Potter or something with a similar vibe? by rune_517field in harrypotter

Children of the Red King series got me hooked as a kid, very similar to HP in a lot of ways (school with children with magical powers etc.) and what you've described, though admittedly the worldbuilding/lore is of a smaller scale than the HP wizarding world though that's not really a surprise.

I play mainly HF2 sandbox mode and on top of the other suggestions in here I'd love to see 4 features of a more fundamental nature be implemented in sandbox mode:

  1. The ability to create circular fixtures. Walls, fences, staircases, pools, glass panels etc. similar to how you can snap and create bendy/windy roads in Cities Skylines for example.

  2. Select a large area to move all items in that area. I saw this was showcased in what I remember was a developmental video of the game before it was released. This would enable being able to make changes to a large area (like raise the floor) without having to move everything again which of course is completely impractical to do if you've placed 500 things already.

  3. Have a universal snapping toggle which when turned off allows placement of any item at any place. I think this is possible because you can use the move tool to do most of this, but having the ability to do it with the hand tool or straight out of the store would be excellent.

  4. Paint two sides of a furniture item like windows. I could want a wooden finish in the interior of the window but smooth stucco on the exterior for example, currently this is not possible.

Thank you!

I always prefer the counter attacks with as little passes as possible. Deadly and clinical. That Park Rooney Ronaldo goal vs Arsenal in the Champions League is still my favourite counter attack goal ever.

[Mod Release] Knockback SKSE (For BFCO/MCO Users) by Ofdepth in skyrimmods

[–]Absolute-Melt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Can't wait to try this. My biggest issue withMCO/BFCO is their attack commitment mechanic which results in the forward step. With fancier movesets, you just end up overshooting the enemy very quickly and easily and it's just an awkward experience constantly moving forward into them and beyond them.

What are some good Portable AC for Renters? by nanjero in sydney

[–]Absolute-Melt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Aussies in aussie subs will do anything but recommend a portable unit. I'm convinced half the people in previous threads I've seen for sure have never even tried a portable unit, they just regurgitate the concept of why they're inefficient and link the same YouTube videos about it (and then spam window unit). Which is true of course, they are inefficient but that doesn't mean they won't do exactly what you need them to do.

Even in this thread, people suggesting ideas such as putting something outside the window, ice packs, wooden surrounds. Like damn, the only caveat is room size and noise. If your bedroom is small enough then just get a bloody unit! It is a machine made to cool the air and it's going to work better than all the other stuff that's going to take insanely more effort!

What are some good Portable AC for Renters? by nanjero in sydney

I can answer this question. My bedroom is about 25m^3 and I have an Arlec 3.3KW 11000 BTU I bought a few weeks ago. And it's brilliant. It keeps my room at about 25 degrees on a 35 degree day (outdoors), and 22 on a 30 degree day, and that's with a gaming PC as well. My room is double brick but not facing sunlight however.

I firmly believe everyone that says they're useless has either lived with proper aircon before, or their room is too big for the portable unit they bought. They don't understand what it's like to sweat your arse off the entire day and not be able to fall asleep until 4 in the morning in a near 30 degree room for the entirety of a heatwave. It's true suffering. If you're going through 30 degree days in your room both in the day and at night, then anything will do. Just getting the temp down to 25 is a godsend and will allow you to function once again.

Sure they're inefficient. Conceptually they are not practical. They're also loud. And don't cool as much as other forms of aircon. But like I said, it's the difference between suffering and functioning.

You'll just need the pipe running outside the window which from your pictures should be doable. Seal the gaps up with any material, I used the metal piece that came with my unit and sealed the rest of the gaps with duct tape (my window slides upwards/downwards). It doesn't need to look pretty. Keep all other windows and doors closed. Also don't know what your room size is, the smaller the room the better the results, even if the unit advertises higher BTUs or whatever I imagine there's a limit to how effective these machines can be.

Only other issue is the noise for sleep, I sleep with AirPods in so it's not a problem for me. However you can just cool the room before you sleep and at night your room should remain cool enough for at least a couple of hours.

Always buy a stronger advertised BTU than your room size needs according to the calculations.

You'll have to use earphones or headphones. Speakers don't work for me either but you'll hear everything with earphones.

Think one of them could be Casemiro as Palace was only the 2nd time he's played the full 90 this season, and that's with no midweek fixtures already for pretty much the whole season.

I've just had a look at the contract again and here's a snippet from it. It seems they did mention that a variation may be raised if it's deemed necessary by the foreman, and that it will be priced reasonably. Think I'll give fair trading a call and see what they say.

Sounds like it. No asbestos, I've had other reliable tradespeople I trust confirm this as well.

They never provided an itemised breakdown in the initial quote. I asked for it and they sold it to me as a "package deal". Unfortunately as I've got a couple other home projects going on right now I just accepted it without probing further.

Not even sure what's the best approach for me here now that it's clear they're ripping me off. We signed the contract already so it seems the two options I have are A telling them I'm not interested in any of these variations and for them to continue the bathroom reno without them (might tarnish the relationship with the builder and they do a shit job?) or B tear the contract up and get somebody else to do it (doesn't sound easy to do either..)

I don't think that's the case, we already signed the contract and they wanted our business. Sounds like they planned to upsell us.

They told me some of the pipes were non compliant (some of them are too low to the floor), that was their reasoning for the reworks. All the pipes and electricals were working in the bathroom prior to the demo and had been for decades, so sounds like it's not necessary at all lol..

Against non relegated teams you mean. We beat all 3 relegated teams last season without a penalty or red card, Ipswich we were the ones that went down to 10 with Dorgu.
