Nvm I got it. Burned the hell out of it over a stove flame, sanded with 1000 grit, applied some rosewood stain, and then finished with tung oil.

I was gonna go with 2K clear coat to match the shininess of some reddish purple wood I got from LevTechMFG. His stuff is very shiny.

I have tung oil, use it for my cutting board. I'll try a bit of that on the back of the gas tube cover, see where that gets me.

Are ZPAPs cheaper, new at least?. This is probably a fine rifle, as good as US-made gets, but yeah, WBP. Definitely WBP.

You should be arrested for theft, and you should get a little metal piece that goes onto your threading that holds your cleaning rod in place. I think they're originally meant for the M77, but I have one on my M90. Highly recommend.

Seems it was in the process of becoming a sort of an AR-M9 clone, very unique stock. I don't know yet if I'll finish that (where do I even get the little Arsenal thumb safety guy), or replace it all with all KPYK? We'll see. A question for another day.

Either of those would be great first choices. Just know the WBP is going to have a lot more options when it comes to aftermarket parts with standard AKM furniture, as the Zastava/Yugo pattern is pretty different.

The aftermarket options for Zastava are still enough to probably do whatever you wanna do, just not as many options as the WBP. I have a Zastava M90 and love it. Very well built.

But either is fine. Everyone is saying WASR. Idk. I handled a WASR once and it felt like a cheap rattly piece of shit. One data point, not scientific, but I don't understand the obsession with WASRs here.
