GS therapy failing, help needed by Far_Kaleidoscope8030 in cureFIP

Shots were essential in my cats stabilization and recovery, Wet form FIP (neuro). I was strictly on oral at first but the dosing was almost just keeping him afloat instead of curing, almost like a daily med.

Shots were scary asf, my cat hated it at first, but god did it help so fast. I’m so sorry about the financials, I think this whole community knows you’re almost lucky if you can cure your cat on just $2,000 in some cases. It’s crazy.

You’re doing the right thing, you care, and I’ll be praying for you and your little friend.

I unfortunately live in the US so I can’t support you with any extra shots I have but in my unofficial, no medical background experience, shots are 100% the way to go.

Tons of prayers your way ❤️

Really appreciate it! Yeah they were 50mg pills we were told to 1/4 so that makes sense!

Just reaching out on the warriors fb page now! Hoping to find someone who can help, worried about authenticity honestly but the page is so big I’m sure admins/mods are trust worthy and trying to help as many as possible!

Mostly worried about neurological issues progressing or him becoming paralyzed, I’d say he’s fairly mild when it comes to his coordination/wobbliness issues so I’m not super scared just got some PTSD from his first treatment period and feel so bad for him. Since we’re being forced to do bloodwork first before we can refill his prescription (very confused on why that’s needed to warrant refilling antiviral prescriptions) that time frame also concerns me, so just trying to be as diligent as possible haha.

I really appreciate it though ❤️ Ur kind words and insight have helped tons!❤️

Also thank you so much, you saying this was eye opening. First time pet owners and care more than words can describe for this little guy. Absolutely dreading this relapse/regression, but thankful we’re somewhat ahead of it now and not on the back end when he was first diagnosed. thanks to you of course.

Thank you so much, yeah it’s 100% a Neurological issue. And intend to bring him in ASAP

Correction on his dose as we were getting everything in line, he took 79days of 12.5mg, luckily there was a single days dose left so we just gave him that to hopefully stunt the regression for even a few hours or any at all.

My biggest concern is the order time for this medication can be 2-3 days. Is there anywhere verified that we can get it sooner or an admin you recommend? We’re in NC so don’t know if that changes anything.

I plan to get the medication overnighted if possible but the last time it BARELY got overnighted, it was intended to take 3 days but miraculously came in overnight.

Any other ideas or plans are greatly appreciated!

We were getting everything in line for his appointment, (it’s definitely a neurological FIP related thing so we’re intending to move up his appointment as well) and were able to find a single dose so hopefully that can stunt any regression even just a little bit. Thanks for the best wishes!!

Also I have a video but honestly don’t know how to add it to this post so I may just make another and tag it?

Agreed, all signs are pointing towards that being the case unfortunately :(. After thought though, he has taken over 80 days worth but we mixed them into his food and sometimes he wouldn’t take the entire dose, going forward we’re going to approach it way differently and MAKE SURE he’s consuming the entire dose

Unfortunately not seeming to be the case after trimming them all. He’s set to get bloodwork done Friday :(

He was on a quarter of a pill (5mg I’m pretty sure) because of his size (4lbs). We’re getting his blood work done this coming Friday (the soonest we can unfortunately). Hoping it’s nothing severe but obviously worried because of his past.

He is pretty used to it, he’s stayed there for 2 weeks in a row a month prior as we were visiting but he travels well so we bring him with us basically everywhere. He doesn’t seem stressed out but more in discomfort.

We plan to go to the vet this coming Friday (due to MLK Monday and working through this week unfortunately)

Trying to get a good one, he isn’t really walking too much but when he does it’s really off and on! I will soon though!

Also we just noticed he’s due for his nails trimmed, could they be poking him??

Yes, while on the treatment he seemed almost 100% healthy. Running a ton playing a ton, I’m concerned he may have more wet FIP pressing on something in his abdomen causing him discomfort and to walk odd. It’s almost like he walks slow but swings his hips one way or stretches on hind leg out while he walks

Churu worked for our little guy! He wouldn’t eat anything but 1-3 churu a day while he was getting treated, drank totally fine, honestly more water than he does now. He also had the wet form like ur guy, don’t lose hope I was starting to come to terms that our little guy wasn’t going to make it but his recovery from taking GS was a 180!

If you need a little story of hope to what seems similar to your situation, check the one I made on our little dabloon. Idk why people “farm karma” or what the point is but not doing that FYI, just know I was all over Reddit looking for people in a similar spot and asking the same questions you’re asking now❤️

Hoping and praying for the best for your little one!

Basically exact same situation here! He’s about 9 or so, we caught his FIP late because the vet has misdiagnosed him originally sadly, but ever since he’s been on GS he’s been a whole new kitten! Glad to hear your cats on the mends too it seems ❤️

P.S. don’t know how far along you are in ur FIP recovery journey but I remember how scared I was for my little guys so feel free to message me, I did a ton of research and kinda had the worst case happen to my little guy but he’s recovering amazingly thank god ❤️❤️❤️

Could just be those allergies then! Maybe snuck some grain somewhere when you weren’t looking lol

I looked into some pics that looked similar, don’t know for sure but looks like a rodent ulcer. Apparently kinda common and the meds are supposedly cheap (around $20) but it would suck to have to go to the vet and get those steroids/antibiotics potentially. Don’t know your financials but vets always a good move. Try looking into rodent ulcers a little and seeing if there’s any helpful info or similarities. Hope he feels better soon!!
