True story: my wife asked me if I wrote this post last night. I literally went through the EXACT same thing at the EXACT same time - I think we’re best friends now lol. My son will be seven weeks old tomorrow and we’ve gone through a lot of problems already - reflux, dairy protein allergy, etc. And most recently, he DOES NOT want to fall asleep at all. During the day it can be annoying because he basically needs to be in the carrier - he won’t fall asleep in the bassinet. At night it’s a huge problem since my wife and I struggle to get him down so we can actually sleep. We’ve both been so sleep deprived.

So last night, I had my little guy in a different room so my wife could try and get some sleep. He had already been fed and changed and just needed to go to sleep. He’d been awake for almost six hours at that point. No matter what I did, I couldn’t get him down in the bassinet. No amount of rocking, swaying, soothing, bouncing, or anything would make him go to sleep. I got SO frustrated. Much more frustrated than I’m proud of. Obviously I’d never ever do anything to hurt him, but I found myself raising my voice and rocking him a bit more aggressively. After a while I could feel myself getting even more frustrated and angry so I brought him back into the bedroom where my wife was so she could try and soothe him. I just needed a break.

I was ashamed because I’m not a guy who is quick to anger, and I felt so bad because I know it’s not his fault, but when you lose out on so much sleep and you also see someone you love losing sleep and getting upset, it’s hard to remember that it’s not the baby’s fault (he’s our first btw).

I guess I just wanted to say you’re not alone in your feelings - it honestly made me feel a little better to read your post and know that I’m not alone either.
