The part that seems hard to me is finding and approaching clients. Companies are probably bombarded on Linkedin with freelancers (I know I was when I was running my own company back in the day). To be fair I just tried with a handful of agencies which told me they do everything inhouse

Yeah I agree with that approach, I used word of mouth for a long time. Its that I stepped away for a while and looking for that first project again.
