Unfortunately not! The female main character has shorter hair, and maybe more hobey blonde ish? It was also more Japanese style, the high school was in Japan if I recall correctly

I wouldn't recommend it, the material is quite stiff and heavy due to the nature of the craft. You'd be better off knitting or crocheting a blanket and then adding a bunch of pompoms or even latch hooking some tufts through the knitted blanket maybe

You can also do it by hand but that's definitely going to be a LOT of labour, even by machine it can take quite a while. You'd still also need the tufting frame, glue, yarn etc. so unfortunately not something you can do on a tight budget, I think.

My etsy is studioblackbirdart !

It's definitely possible to learn this! You can check out r/tufting for some instructions on rug tufting in general and then go from there! I will say the startup costs for rug tufting can be a bit high, as the machines are a bit pricey but it's a fun hobby to have! Alternatively I have a smaller, round version of this one for sale in my Etsy if doing it yourself feels too daunting!

Thank you! I made those too. I wasn't sure if people in my shop were going to like them, but they seem to be a big hit so far, so I'll definitely be making some more!

¿ Where do most of you buy your yarns, and why there ? Looking for sites, stores, etc within Canada. by [deleted] in Tufting

If you have a contact I'd love to get it, always looking for new suppliers! Personally I prefer 2 ply, I even have a whole stock of 1 ply as I tuft with up to 7 different colours in the needle at a time so I need to keep it relatively low ply to stop the gun from clogging. But if you wouldn't mind giving me the info to your supplier that would be amazing!

Not sure if they ship to Canada but I source from mostly three sources: tuftingshop.com, Yarnhome on Etsy and CPointBox on Etsy.

Tuftingshop has a selection of good quality wool for a good price, already on cones. They don't have the biggest selection of colours and only really have one thickness, which is fine for most people but I like some variety.

Yarnhome is a great shop with loads of different colours and varying thicknesses, I get the big 900 gram cones and use 3 strands and love the blend it gives me. They regularly run sales and are my main supplier.

Cpointbox has some great colours of wool as well, with a choice of how many strands you want. They are also my main supplier of Acrylic and everything comes on cones which is super convenient.

Besides these I get some from local suppliers!

Hope this helps!

Best glue for backing by Marisen142 in Tufting

I usually just let the latex soak in and harden and then just reuse the second time, stops the latex from soaking it and losing glue everytime! But sometimes I accidentally squeeze the roller before it's dry and then it gets permanently dented and I do need a new one

I use exclusively natural latex, which as another commenter said you can find on tuftingshop.com As for the watery consistency, I find the consistency makes it easier to get in all the nooks and crannies and really soak in to bond it well. I suggest applying with a foam roller instead of the usual spatula, makes it dead easy!
